That'll do it. And that's what I tell everyone - practice, practice, practice. It's a brutal mistress, unless you are a masochist and like being whipped, but once you crack the DU mystery... it's like learning clutchless shifting on a motorcycle.... magic.

14.1 is closed and Samantha Briggs took it with 472 for Overall leader and Dan Bailey took men's with 461.

I was curious where I would be sitting in the rankings. I stopped clicking at rank 14353 (301 reps). There are monstrous ties at each rep, this should be really fun to see who breaks away if only the what, top .2%, make it?

14.2 should be interesting, OHS are not a strong point for me, they hurt the shit out of my wrists even taped up. If I can overcome that aspect, the actual squatting is not too bad for me. I really like the format though, definitely a cool twist so you can get some rest in between the first few rounds.

Talking to some people and to get the 14 you have to go unbroken. I however will be happy to get into the 2nd set of 12s....

Sounds about right, 10 and 12 shouldn't be horrible, but 14 will be I'm sure.

Well that was painful, 114. I realllly need to learn butterfly PU/C2Bs, just made it to 14s with seconds to spare. All OHS unbroken, but the C2Bs started crushing me at the end of the 12s and into the 14s. Will give it another go on Monday to see if I can add a few reps.

Some tips from Diane Fu for 14.2:*

    1. Spend the first 2 sets/6min feeling things out. Don't go for broke trying to buy extra rest time.**
    2. Break the sets up early on the chest to bar pull-ups. No need to string them together early. Save that for when you need the push in the latter rounds.**

    3. On the overhead squat, a slightly wider stance and relatively narrower grip will help keep the shoulders stable and hips hitting end range sooner. This technique will allow the athlete to move fluidly without extra effort in trying to control the range of movement.**

    4. Spend extra time getting the shoulders and hips warm. Chasing down the thoracic spine will buy some extra slack both overhead and for the end ranges of the chest to bar pull up. As always, make sure you are slightly sweaty before hitting the 3, 2, 1 GO!**

    5. For my friends that will be hitting this challenge up twice, I suggest pacing extra on the first attempt. Be conservatively successful. This will establish a baseline of what you know you can do without a problem. By being a little more reserved on the first go, you to head into 14.2 a second time with less stress, fear and more clarity for where you can push to get the extra points.

just did it pretty bummed i won't get to get another shot at cuz I'm going out of town for a downhill race tomorrow, i think i coulda got midway thru the 16s just a few pull-ups shy of making it there got a 137...OHS were no problem and this didn't tax the cardio whatsoever IMO, what killed me were the c2b i can usually go unbroken and butterfly no problem (don't break once during FRAN) but i hurt my shoulder last week and already had ripped hands from a wod this week which made the pull-ups a bitch which made me have to do sets of 1 midway thru the round of 12 :(...oh well got a PR doing karen (150 wall balls for time) wednesday night tho got it just under 5 minutes! lol

    Bone stock. For now.
Well, I am very unhappy with my performance. I didn't even make it through the round of 12. Scored 80 this morning. I'm not sure what exactly happened. The first round felt fine, no problem at all. The second half of the second round, I just fell apart. I couldn't keep my balance on OHS, and I was just taxed on C2B's. I will absolutely be doing this again on Monday morning!!

That's basically what happened to me, just barely made it through 12, deceptively hard WOD.

Go slow to start. Keep the heart rate low and the grip strong. I have seen some people even do the first 2 rounds of Chest2Bar as singles. Worked well for them.

Definitely this. I made the mistake of trying to go fast and hard right at the beginning of the first round. Bit me right in the butt.

Just got back from the box. I did 14.2 again, and scored better. I made it into the third round, and got 10 of my OHS's in the second half, giving me a new score of 126. All things considered, I'm pretty happy with that. It's an increase of 46 reps, so I'll take it. My pacing in the second round was much slower, and it obviously worked to my advantage.

I"ll try that tomorrow when I run it. I wouldn't have thought to make the c2bs singles. i was honestly thinking about just rushing through to get the most rest possible.

I'm redoing it today, I felt that I broke them up too soon before feeling fatigued.

Ran 14.2 again, gained 2 reps LOL. Took a much more conservative approach on the first two rounds breaking up C2bs, and felt better going into 14s, but still blew up once I got to the C2Bs, oh well. That was a tough one.

Yeah my redo was worse by 7 reps, felt so bad that I did todays WOD afterward, 5rnds 25 kbs 24/16 and 50 DU's 20 min cap, felt like a bag of cat shit after, 19:58 RX.

So first attempt 14.2 was yesterday at 11am then active recovery at buddies place with 5 3 2 1 1 1 split jerks then 3 rnds of 400m run and 10 burpees, then 4pm today 14.2 redo and wod at 430. bag of cat shit... yup.

Ran through 14.3 tonight. This is about lactic threshold, not cardio! I mixed between box step ups and jumps t keep my heart rate down but Im not sure I needed to do that. Every time you think about not wanting to touch the bar is exactly when you need to pick it up for at least a double. I got 137 reps but I think 150+ is very doable, for me its all about how fast I can get through the round of 275.

^That's pretty good. I did mine this morning and finished with 111. Me and box jumps do not get along. AKA my conditioning is not great. I may do it again on Monday morning.
