    Hello guys
So I have noticed my 2014 sport having some trouble starting. The problem is never on the first start it is always on the second start of the day. It almost seems as if the battery is low or weak but I had just got it serviced and they tested they battery and reported it was fine.
    Any idea what it is?
    Thank you for your help!

Cannot say I hear the fuel pump or I'm not sure.
    Defiantly cranking.
I can only describe it as starting a car with a dead battery, but if I keep at it, it starts up

Are your battery terminals crusted over? On these engines, anything less than a perfect seal between the terminal clamps and the terminals makes everything go bonkers.

x2 and also ensure the ground connections are clean and tight. If the battery is not retaining full charge, an unhealthy charging system, partial battery sulfation, excessive electrical load, or driving habits could be the cause.

My 2014 struggled to start about five times over the first couple months. I took it in to the dealer, they checked the battery and it was normal apparently, hasn't done it since.

Fuel pump only kicks on during the "Start", and while running. Not when just in the "On" position.

I'm actually experiencing a similar problem but kind of opposite... I'm in California too, and it was a hot day. I tried the starter, it cranked for 2 seconds then lost power too the starter motor and just buzzed, 2nd try was good. I don't know if that's some sort of safety mechanism built into our trucks. Maybe to prevent over drainage of the battery when our starter's are over used and the engine still wont start. Have no clue, but it hasn't happened again since we had a relativity cool week. I read somewhere that high ambient air temps can make the fuel clog the system, making it difficult to start???? I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I feel like it can help us narrow this problem down even quicker. I made a thread about a starter problem in the technical section.

Apart from taking it to the dealer that sounds like exactly the problem I was having.

I haven't had any trouble with my 2014. I took my son to the doctor this morning, and came back. No issues. I went to start it this afternoon, and it was dead. I jump started it, let it run for a while. Took it for a ride, and the battery is dead. Strange.

I did. They replaced the battery. No other defects noted.

I had that experienced as well on my "15, it only happened when the weather are hot. Like today it hot here in sunny San Diego, I will see if it going to die on my first start.

I'm having the same problem too. No matter how long u hold it it won't start unless I step on the gas. What does that mean? Fuel pump no good?

The 2011 I had and the 2013 I have would occasionally have a hard start. They would always start, but sometimes take longer to start. Typically long spans in between it happening. I don't think weather or heat has anything to do with it.
