I am writing regarding 2014 Entune radio with navigation. Sometimes while driving my destination changes and while attempting to enter the new address into the GPS all of the buttons are blocked out while driving. I know this is a "safety feature" because you shouldn't type on the radio while driving. But sometimes it is more dangerous to stop to type it. There is nothing more frustrating than typing while at a stoplight... the light changes and have to wait till you stop at the next light to finish typing it in. Is there a way to override this "safety feature"? I do a lot of open highway driving and it gets frustrating to have to pull over to the shoulder to type in a new address. Then try to navigate my way back on the highway.

Not that I'm aware of. As you say it is a safety feature. I'm sure someone has figured a work around but I haven't seen it.

I don't even use the nav or apps on my '13 entune. I use Apple tom tom app, so much more accurate. less annoying and Siri. entune nav sucks.

Really? I've had pretty good luck out of mine. We went to Colorado earlier this year and it was accurate everywhere we went. On the way home we just hit home and it took us right home with no issues.

it works well in the city. I live it the sticks and it doesn't pick up small roads. I used it in Salt Lake and it was fine. I just prefer iphone because i use it all the time. links maps to contacts.

Works great for me. Using gps coordinates has always worked perfectly.

Yes... I use my phone most of the time... WAZE is an amazing free GPS app.. but I also like using the built in gps... just looking for a work-around for the "safety feature"

saw a youtube video the other day that show how to bypass the safety feature on a JVC in dash DVD player using a ground wire... Wonder if there is something similar for the Entune...

The voice command works well. Even when moving. Try searching your destination via voice command and you'll find it easier and a whole lot less frustrating than typing it in.

AVIC411.com also has a great thread on performing the bypass for the Pioneer. Perhaps something it that thread can help with the Entune.

Somewhere on here is a post regarding this modification there is a purple wire with a white stripe I think that simply needs to be cut and have a switch put in place we need to turn it off then you can enter your information and turn it back on it was very easy to do just can't find the post right now. I did it yesterday on a 2014 and it works flawlessly.
