    Maybe Panasonic can repair it?

Will make a call on Monday to see if the local listing for making radio repairs might have seen this - can't hurt at this point. Thanks

Freezing head units has been a continual issue, dealers are replacing units under warranty, not sure if there is a TSB on them or not for out of warranty stuff.

Anyway, if you stick with OEM you'll run the risk of this reoccurring. If you can find a repair, even better. Anyone with issues under warranty should be going to their dealer and getting it looked at, you'll likely get a replacement.

Is this freeze up occurring on just the NAV radios, or does it also happen on the Entune Base and Entune Plus radios?

If after everything has been tried and the radio is determined a throw-away, you might want to try one last attempt at restoring the firmware.

According to Entune 2014.pdf, which is the TSB for Entune version 3.2, it states "Entune is inoperative" as one of the faults that the newer 3.2 firmware corrects.

The USB drive with the 3.2 firmware is inserted into the USB port before the radio is started, so possibly the radio may boot from that USB drive, and then might fully boot up. Follow the instructions in the TSB.

The 3.2 firmware is located at this post.

Thanks tomwil - was hoping that someone had located this type of info. I'll try this in the morning (have pulled the files) and report back - seriously hope this works!

No luck with the Entune 3.2 update - the radio is not seeing the USB as it powers on. Will try pulling the battery cable again to power it fully down to see if that might prompt a read. I'm open to trying various ideas to see if there is a combo that might work. Local Panasonic repair ship is out of business, local dealer was polite but uninterested in trying to help (other dealer is 45 minutes away so that is still a remote option). If this last attempt at the USB reprogram does not work, it is coming out and getting opened up for general curiosity sake...

Another long shot, but maybe hold down the APPS button (or try other buttons) while the radio is starting up?

Tomwil - good idea and had tried that - went thru the buttons one by one with a key off, hold button and key on, no change for any... As real long shot, I tried inserting a CD to see if that would get me to another screen - and the good news is that the CD played, bad news is that the screen did not change and I had no control of the CD from the steering wheel controls. When I went to eject the CD (you just know what is coming next), it when back to silence - and of course, the CD did not eject... Tried holding the eject button down and turning key off - holding eject button while key back on - no sound and no CD eject. I can hear the CD start to spin up when I first turn on the key, but it stops within a couple of seconds. Even went thru the buttons one by one, holding while I pressed the power/volume knob to made the radio restart.

Tried calling Toyota to see if I could get any reset instructions (go to your local dealer was on the person's repeat script it seemed) - pulling this one out... Done with messing with it

Yep, you tried everything I could think of, and more. So sorry nothing worked out for you, but thanks for posting your efforts. Hope your next radio works out better.

One last thought - and this MIGHT be related - I had never used the Entune app until I changed phones recently (before this radio died) - in digging thru my notes (OCD is not that bad if you use it wisely), I see that the VIN I used was stated as for a vehicle that had Entune Plus - not the Entune Premium... Could it be that Toyota would be able to essentially brick a radio thru Entune?

Doubtful. It's a known issue for the Entune units to freeze.
