I'm really wishing for at least an SEC title before coach Spurrier decides to retire. If it's ever going to happen, it'll be while he's with us. I had high hopes for 2013, but we just didn't play up to expectations...That was a great team there. Lots of talent.

I feel for the guy. He's accomplished a whole bunch but each year the SEC finds a way to slip away. The Tenn. game really screwed up last season.

On paper, we should have destroyed Tennessee and then gotten whooped by Clemson. I'm not going to complain. If we had beaten just one more SEC team, this would have been a difficult year to beat the west, anyway.

    Mullen hires new offense assistant

Brian Johnson, former Utah quarterback who torched Bama in the 2009 sugar bowl and current Utah assistant coach, is joining the MSU staff as a replacement for Les Koenning who left for Texas. Mullen recruited Johnson while he was offensive coordinator at Utah but never got to coach him as he left to follow Urban Meyer to Florida.

Looks like a good hire to me. Could open up some new recruiting possibilities out northwest for us too. Mullen has stated that he calls the offensive plays anyway, so bringing in a young quarterbacks coach that played in a similar system to what we run will probably only help in recruiting until Mullen gives him more input in the offense.

What I felt was most impressive, even beyond that his teammates knew and supported him, was that he wanted to be defined as a football player and a good person first. He didn't see it as a big deal and only came out publicly because he didn't want someone else to break the news and have the media flip out as if he was hiding something. Good for him. Heck of an athlete.

Why would anyone still be shocked that gays are playing football? I'm sure they've been there all along...Afraid to mention it. Back when I played, I wouldn't have cared if someone was gay. But then again, I didn't play CENTER.:D

Can't wait! I'm not as worried about Clemmy this year as I was last year. They lost their stars. Mason will probably be pretty nervous, but I'm hopin he can lean on the experience he got at the end of last year, even though he was kinda hot and cold in those games.

I really just want to know what they're gonna do with our 6 (SIX!!!) running backs. Who are we gonna redshirt? Can't redshirt the 2 5 star RBs, so I'm guessin we'll maybe RS Douglas? Maybe move Green to WR or KR?

Need to get Michel and Chubb some experience this year since they'll probably be carrying the team next year when Gurley more than likely leaves.

Yeah, good point about Clemson with them losing the QB & best receiver. We'll be in the same boat with Shaw gone. Poor Mike Davis will be the main work horse.

I think Dylan Thompson has the ability to put points on the board. He's not the dynamic athlete and gutsy leader that Shaw is, but I'm sure he'll be pretty good.

He has had a few good games in the past but some sketchy moments also. For some reason, our offense seems to struggle with pocket passing. We always did better with Shaws style of rolling out of the pocket.

Time will tell the story....we have A&M for the first game. Their defense hasn't been the greatest so if we struggle in that one.....:facepalm:

We always struggle in the games that should have been "easy". We could have lost several other games right down untill the last moments. You can't get up and make yourself a drink during our games. A disaster might hit! If we beat A&M and Georgia right off the start...we'll be in for a good year. I'm still waiting to see if Spurrier can make that Pharaoh kid into some sort of Q.B. Thomson worries me.
