I'm talking during Muschamp's tenure. 6-6 isn't great but that was his first year. 11-1 was pretty good. Then 4-8 with a slew of injuries. I'm just saying that if they can avoid injuries, they have a shot at 9 wins, easy.

 

I've said it before, the Gators are gonna surprise a few folks this year.

 

I do think Auburn is a very good team and probably the one with the fewest questions, though I wouldn't be surprised to see them take a step back last year. They beat A&M, Georgia, and Alabama on last second plays. They also beat Ole Miss, MSU, and Wash St by a touchdown or less each. If you look at it in those regards it doesn't take much to imagine them being 6-8 instead of 12-2 last year. Props to them though. That team didn't know how to give up.

 

There are always questions. Seems the biggest ones are at QB, especially at Alabama... but the last TWO times Alabama had a first-time starter at QB, we won the national championship. Having an unproven QB doesn't mean a team can't compete.

Until the SEC actually gets shut out of the 4-team playoff, I won't believe it's possible. The best of the SEC is more likely than not among the best 4 teams in the country. The last few years, the second best in the SEC is probably in the top 4, too:

-In 2013 - auburn was in the game, Bama was ranked #3 in the final BCS poll
-In 2012 - Alabama was in the game, Florida was #3 in the final BCS poll
-In 2011 - Alabama and La State were both in the game
-in 2008 - Florida was in the game, Alabama was #4 in the final BCS poll

In two other years, the SEC finished with a team in the game, and a team JUST outside of the top 4:
-in 2009 - Alabama was in the game, Florida finished #5 in the final BCS poll (after losing to Bama in the SECC)
-in 2007 - La State was in the game, Georgia finished #5 in the final BCS poll.

 

I'm not saying that it's not possible and that a team can't compete with a unproven quaterback. My thing is everybody seems to think Jacob Coker is the next football messiah and the next Heisman winner. The guy's college career consists of 295 yds, 51.2% completion rate, 1 td-1 int. I just can't put much stock on anyone until they've competed on the game field.

I expect a team from the SEC to make it to the playoffs, but they won't be undefeated.

 

I'm not predicting it, but would not in the least, be surprised to see two SEC teams in the four team play off this year.

 

Coaches Poll is out... I'm happy enough. Pre-season polls mean nothing, though.

Pre-season #1 hasn't won the NC in the last decade...

 

It would be a safer bet that no more than one would make it - seem to be forgetting the distaste the rest has for the SEC...
