Hi Steve, can you help me out with some parts needed to retrofit this to your '07? I have done some research and know that I will need a usb conversion cable, a usb aux port, an AM/FM antenna adapter, and a bluetooth mic. Did you also need a 28-20 conversion cable? Anything else I'm missing?

Can anyone please provide a part # or link to the adapter harness I need for the USB. I have followed links on other threads and wound up with one wrong adapter. What I already have that seems to be correct so far is the adapter for the head unit plug and the USB extension. All this is plugged and works. I have the loose FEMALE USB end laying in the glove box. Im needing the adapter that has a MALE USB end and plugs into the media box behind the glove box.

Oh good lord @steveo27 this is waaaaay too hard for me. I'm a simple plug and play kind of dude. Even then I can probably find a way to screw it up.

    Thanks for the write up

I have an 05 truck and switched to a 2012 HU a few years ago using information from this and other threads. I upgraded to bluetooth and enjoyed having the touchscreen. I recently found a 2014 NAV HU and installed it today. I also used a Rostra backup camera kit 250-8406 and the install went pretty smoothly. Thanks to the OP and all who have posted helpful information. I love the new setup in my older truck. :)

    Hello,

this is a great thread but I since other members are no longer selling the head units I wanted to ask if anyone had a good site for buying one. I also wanted ask if someone could confirm the part number of the newest head unit I can use in my 2012 TRD with no JBL. It has bluetooth and XM but nothing else. I think I should be able to do everything I need with this tutorial but I just could not confirm the correct part number for a 2014 or later head unit.

Thanks and any help is appreciated,

    P.

Keep watching the buy and sell on Tacomaworld and other Tacoma forums. The only other thing I would recommend is eBay, Craigslist/Kijiji or equivalent for people parting out their trucks, or wreckers.

I highly recommend the install. It's a lot easier than it looks.

    Hey,

thanks for the quick response and I am excited for the install once I get all the gear together. Can you please provide me with the part number for the 2014 non jbl unit? I don't think a 2015 unit will work but please let me know.

    P.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I live in Canada so a non-Entune is what I am after as well as long as it has navigation. I would really prefer to go with a 2015 model if possible unless the 2014 part number is the same.

    Thanks,

    R.

Hey, thanks again for all the information. So it looks like I need a 86140-04100 part number, can anyone confirm the correct face plate number?

    Thanks,
