i need some help. I installed a new HU and can't figure out where the reverse lamp wire is. I've been told it's the red/white in the gray 12 pin plug at the kick panel, but the only red/white i found doesn't have power when reverse is engaged. Anybody have a picture by chance?

I asked the guy at crutchfield if I could just use the old factory harness right there at the HU, but he said no. Kinda weird.

The crutchfield guy is full of it. I picked mine up at the head unit!

There isn't a plug and play solution so you'll have to splice, the wire is actually solid red and is available in one of the plug connectors for the head unit. It is the same connector that your steering wheel control adapter plugs into and should be terminal 2. The correct wire is the one in my picture with the green jumper wrapped around it. I took a break and put that there before I quit.

EDIT: I read your other post about having to program your steering wheel controls. I used the Metra ASWC-1 instead of the PAC SWI, but I had to manually program it too. In fact I've only ever had one vehicle where the auto program worked correctly on. Between myself, family and friends I've helped put in 7 or 8...
I'm surprised the SWI didn't have a plug in harness, the ASWC-1 was plug and play in that respect. I also saw your question about the parking brake input, I bought a bypass for that, it was a lot simpler than running wire and my girlfriend can watch DVDs while on a trip. In regards to the blue power antenna wire, it was included in my aftermarket harness but not needed. When you pull the antenna connector apart there's no connection for it.

If you have XM and want to keep the factory antenna, you can do that as well, the splice is easy to do using a RG174 female end.

Man that's awesome. I'll dig into this today. I did fix the steering wheel control. I misread the instructions. All I did as program the swi to the truck. Thought that was it. Had to go back in and program each function. Works fine now.

I tapped into that wire and it recognizes that I'm in reverse, but all I get is a blue screen and the words no signal. Did I need some video cables or something. I thought it odd that the video signal from the camera would come through that one wire.

Yes you need video cables. I bought a harness from member
    ckremernimrod1

The factory harness has power and ground for the camera and the two signal wires. The harness built by ckremernimrod1 converts the video wires to a standard RCA connector that you'll plug into the back of the head unit.

You can easily cut and splice to make your own connections but the harness ckremernimrod1 builds plugs straight into the vehicle without splicing.

For what it's worth, the rear camera is rated for 6 volts but everyone I've seen on here run 12 volts to it without issue. Plenty of material on here about it. I built a converter for mine from https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/convert-12v-to-6v-for-oem-camera.147202/

When you get a harness you need to power the camera with the red wire you identified as well as keeping the connection you made to the radio.

I have mine so the red wire sends 12v to the head unit and my converter then the converter sends 6v to the camera.
