2014 Rock Therapy - Official Thread

So I have decided I dont want to tow my travel trailer this far and also run the risk of breakage on the truck and struggle to get the trailer back home. Does everyone pretty much stay at area BFE or spread out some? I'm pretty sure the wife will be coming so that means without the trailer its gonna be hotels. How far are the hotels from the main gathering area?

Edit: However, a lot of the groups running trails will be passing through town on the way to a trail. You wouldn't have to drive out to BFE to meet up with the group as long as you get in touch with the person leading that trail. You can just meet them at the trail head or jump in line with them as they roll through town.

 

turn to BFE is 13 miles south of Moab, then 3 miles in to the upper lot

a majority of the people coming will be camping at BFE..there is a huge area to camp..big downfall is the lack of running water..

we will bring in a dumpster and toilets again this year..

we usually stop into town for showers occasionally and mcd's most every morning to wash up

there's a few spots around town that have showers for $ you can use.

if you wanted to stop out at night to hang out before calling it a night, you can do some last minute planning with the trail groups...

as we get closer we'll start to establish some main trail runs and trail leaders...if you already know your trail and trail leaders, plan to meet up at the established meeting spots the morning of the runs.

unless you feel like making the trip out every morning, you can meet up before everyone heads out in the morning.

wednesday and thursday we'll have sign ins and trail information...after that grab one of us at camp and we'll be able to help out

Yay another hotel bum!

Most of the trails you have to go through town to get to anyway. Our favorite hotel is the Moab Valley Inn. It's so cool that the Transformers crew stayed with us last time.

And it has a swimming pool where half of it is inside and half is outside.

 

This is a wheeling vacation

yah there is a good chance I spend one or two nights in a hotel this time around.... I love my RTT and "roughing" it but it makes a world of a difference to be clean hahahah

Exactly, the wife loves playin in the dirt but really likes to wash it off at the end of the day. I'll admit, I love camping and roughing it as much as the next guy but washin up at the end of the day and sleeping in a comfy bed does not suck.
