^^^These are basically the other side of the argument adn justification for not going to 35's. If this is where you are comfortable and it does what you need it to do, that is just fine. It is also fine, to forewarn people of what may come with the jump and your view of it, should they side with you in the end.

Mark and Monte, and me as well, though I will be on 33's for a while yet... Our priorities are elsewhere and we have no problem with replacing said parts. I break shit about every other run it seems... 33's are not cutting it for me and it shows when I go out and wheel. If anybody is a good example I think it is Silas. He managed to run 37's on his 1st while breaking minimal CV's.

This! I gave NAPA my broken OEM one as a core for one of their remans. Konsta (rctoy) suggested NAPA remans. He breaks CV's like no other, but has been having better luck switching to NAPA remans from O'reilly's.

What??? I guess as long as you think no less than 3 broken CV's on a trip is "minimal". I had to chuckle to myself on Moab Rim when Silas broke another CV and he opened up his duffle bag stuffed full with spare CVs (most of which were already broken).

Hope you don't think I'm trying to argue about the bodyroll on your truck vs mine. Every truck gets a good dip when the nose drops on that obstacle, but your truck is impressive. About as little body roll as possible and your rear setup is sweet as you can see with both rear tires on the ground. Even with what I think is decent travel from my rear end, I still hung a tire.

So, I almost called BS on you but I didn't see the bottom pic at first. You can't claim you are level through the crack when none of you tire are in it. haha I will say the same about Mark's pic you posted. Kind of looks like his rear tire isn't drooped.

When I went through the Moab pics last year, I specifically looked for pics that took very similar lines and had their rear tire as close to the bottom of the crack as possible. Those were the ones I saved. Jason's rig seemed to handle the crack the best out of all of them. Yours did good as well though which counters the LT argument, but in my case, I don't see how adding more up and down travel is going to hurt me. I spent a lot of time in the sand as well so the up travel will be useful.

That is pretty bad. I did not hear about that. I consider one per trail as acceptable I guess. That might be a bit rough in Moab with so many trails though.
Huzzah! Right there. I'm not necessarily looking for perfection, just better. As you have probably heard a million times more than me I'm sure, to each their own, especially in this sport. I am all about the more extreme side of the sports, catching air, flying through whoops racing down a trail/creepy up gnarly off camber situations on rocks bigger than my tires finessing my way through the obstacle.

Is it safe, no not really. Am I telling people to go out and do what I do, no, not really. Do I enjoy it, hell ya!

I know both of you have infinitely more experience than me in both of your areas and hope to get to wheel with you in Moab this coming year, since I missed last year, and missed Adam the year before. But is what I am mostly saying is there are multiple views/goals to the sport.

I kind of got that with the ending on the post:cheers:

For the record, I enjoy these conversations/arguments. I like to see other people's perspectives, especially people with the kind of experience that You and Jason have.

Not at all. Just messing around.
Besides...at least your wife drove golden crack...while mine ran to hide in the shade.

Keep in mind, now you will have to be conscientious of your leaf packs and u bolt plates when you pick lines (which you could pretty much ignore with SOA). The crack is ONE obstacle, and frankly pretty easy for ANY of the trucks that had a rear locker, just raised a few tires here and there which are great photo-ops. Going SUA is not all sunshine and unicorns.

One per trip is too much for me. I prefer to keep moving. Have fun in your group :D
