    Hey folks -

    I posted a similar question in the "New Members" section, but figured I might get some more eyeballs on it here. In assembling a Taco on Toyota's build website, I see that if I choose TRD Off-Road, there's no way to get the factory Nav. Is that true?

    Does anyone know why that is? My local dealer hasn't been very helpful; I believe they're set up to move Toyotas rather than answer questions from potential buyers.

    Thanks!

    Someone helped me understand that it's a locality thing, not a Toyota thing. Apparently you can, in fact, order the two together.

    Cool.

    I've owned 2 in the past. I like where they've taken the interior 'toy' options such as the touch screen entertainment, nav system, etc. None of that stuff was available when I last had a Taco (think prior to '05).

    The must-haves are:

    • V6
    • Manual transmission
    • TRD Off-Road (sometimes I play, sometimes I don't).
    • Ext or Quad-Cab
    • Nav system
    The cab debate is internal, and will probably end up being the quad. I'll have a passenger with me sometimes: my new Labrador. He's a baby right now, but he'll be a good size within a couple of years. While the extended cab with suicide door would be large enough for him, I don't think it'd be comfortable enough. The quad has the folding seats which provide a solid platform that he could lay on. So I suspect it'll be the quad.

    I'd love it if I could get the quad with the long bed and a stick, but I don't think Toyota allow that for whatever reason.

    It's the radio. ED is w/o Nav and EE is the radio with Nav.
    In the 5 States of Gulf States Toyota (distributor) all 7188's (2wd DCSB) TRD-OR are being ordered EE.
    If same in your area ask dealer to do a "Boss Change " (it's a special order). I did one today for my own as all 7188 with OC (TRD OR) was coming EE and I wanted ED ( non-Nav).
    It's not a "Match Trade or Dealer Trade", it is giving a unit that is on the way in to the dealer for a unit being built and changed as ordered. Can only be done with items that are approved by TMS. In this case either EE or ED radio can be ordered. They are built in San Antonio.

    A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
    What's the sticker price of stock Navi? Can't you spend that money on a better aftermarket Navi and even save some cash cause I'm almost positive the dealership charges up the ass for any add on option.

    I did some more digging and it looks like the Nav system is not available, in any way, with the Extended Cab. It's only available with the Quad Cab. Does that sound right?

    This is an option I encourage you to explore. You're going to spend at LEAST a grand on the upgraded radio. Why not get something bad ass for a grand?

    If we are talking 6 cly AC in 2 or 4wd yes with the TRD in OR or Sport. All areas of US Toyota order differently and you need to get your dealer to do a "Boss Change or FRS" . The TRD-OR is OC to Toyota / the TRD-Sport is PY and the Nav is EE and w/o Nav radio is ED.

    Because from my experience (a lot of it...) aftermarket navigation systems work well, but don't integrate well with the vehicle. Often times, they lose track of where they are if parked or left off for a period of time. OEM navs generally work much better in that regard.

    I'm basically getting a little tired of buying a new vehicle and ripping its dash apart to fit a new entertainment/Nav system in. I want an OEM solution.

    I think I'm following you, I just want to verify without the ordering codes:

    If the dealer puts in an order with:

    • Access Cab
    • V6
    • 4WD
    • TRD/OR
    they should be able do a "Boss Change or FRS" to add the Nav (EE)?

    Thanks again for all your guidance, I really appreciate it!

    Please note the answer above. I hit the wrong person to the question.

    FYI, I don't know if Toyota did this for the 2014s, but when I bought my 2013 you could only get the Entune/Navi in the Double Cabs with an automatic transmission. Factory navi was not offered in any manual transmission models.

    Also, I have a 6 year old black lab, and he's the reason I boguht a double cab. The back seat has plent of room for him, and I was worried that the access cab would have been too small for him

    He would order: 7554 = 4X4 Access Cab V6 (( Automatic ))
    7553 = 4X4 Access Cab V6 (( 6 MT ))
    OC = TRD/OR
    EE = Nav radio
    If your area orders this all the time no problem. If not dealer would do the Boss Change and order as above with the transmission you want.

    Some NAV's are like that for sure. This is why you do thourogh research before hand. I've been VERY happy with my Eclipse for a number of years now (going on 5). That being said, for $1260 you could essentially get the best of the best. There are a few units over that price range but I don't think it's anything that outstanding.

    But if you're still hell bent on getting the OEM NAV at least be smart about it...$330
