    Hi everybody,

Just bought a new Tacoma (well, almost new, 9k miles), and it's a 4cylinder. Now, mind you, I'm coming out of a Tacoma that had almost 200,000 on it, and, just now, needed its first clutch! Anyway, it was a 2010 V6, manual, but my new truck seems really tame and sluggish compared to my old one. I'm not used to an automatic or a 4 cylinder, but I have to damn near nail it from a dead stop onto a highway. Just doesn't seem to have good acceleration at all. Does it? Am I just not used to it or is the 4 cylinder a bit acceleration challenged? One reason I got it is so I can give it to my son in a few years when he starts driving (figure it will last 3 or 4 years), and I actually wanted him to drive something tame. Well, it IS tame. I just want to make sure I didn't get stuck with a lemon. Thanks everybody.

Disconnect the neg cable for 20 minutes..... maye the prior owner was driving it like gramma..... iirc the trans has some kind of bullshit learning or something (I know thats not 100% correct). I sometimes reset mine and the trans shifts faster and firmer for awhile...... in the end, ur now running on 2 cylinders less than ur used to and a slushbox.

    Is it 4x4 or a 5 lug?

The 4 cylinder auto is slow, you just plan ahead and make sure you have space.

Skinny tires, no topper and no headwind make for a good drive.

The memory in trans has to be reset by techstream. The battery will only reset throttle adaptive.

When I retire I want a 2.7 auto access cab long box 2wd on the west coast.

It's a 4wd as found in the title.

I would assume that your just not use to driving a 4Cylinder access cab. These trucks arnt fast by any chance lol.

When I first drove my 4x4 MT home from Cali I thought something was wrong with it because the dang thing couldn't accelerate past 65 up the mountain. I got use to it after a week or so.

The shift points and gearing are terrible on the 4cly AT and turned me away from it before I even made it out of the parking lot on my test drive. I will admit that it was much happier between 50-75 mph.

I ended up getting the 2.5l 5 speed and it seems to have a lot more spunk, or at least seems to when I run 3rd out on the on ramps.

A 2.7L/auto/4x4/Access Cab IS slow, but its a good little engine in a nice, reliable package. i'm sure you'll "adjust" to it, and learn to love it!!
