I started driving manuals back in the 70's, when the automatics from GM were so bad. We haven't had any automatics in our family for a long time. I know the new automatics are much better, I'm just used to shifting.

Lol. x2 on this. Hell i have a few, but only a few, friends that still can't even drive a manual. They should be ashamed of themselves. The manuals are a good transmission. They have quirks just like the autos do, don't let anyone fool you. It all comes down to preference. I have a 6spd in my 2010 dscb and love it. I change my oil every 30k with Redline (think some already has said that). Best stuff out there. You can get many miles out of a manual without changing the clutch. My brother in law got 160k before he put in a new clutch. Its not only the truck, but how you drive it.

Can you expand on full fuel cut?

I don't know anything about fuel cut but it's illegal to coast downhill in nuetral and the minimal mpg gains you might have will be outweighed by the speeding tickets or brakes you go through coasting in nuetral.

I always liked the manual for highspeed offroading. The Tacoma auto it's slow to respond when you downshift, and then it "smooths" it for you. No comparison to slamming the manual into a lower gear. Ka-blam, you're in the gear you want as fast as your foot and hand can work it.

Such an adrenaline blast to go flying into turns then slam it into a lower gear or two or three faster than I think the auto can. The manual is just so much more fun highspeed offroad. YOU choose how the truck decelerates and accelerates with a manual.
