Hey folks, first time posting for this New Englander Tacoma Off-roader. Lot's of helpful information here, and I appreciate all you sharing your knowledge.

My basic question is - Can anyone provide the Mfg model number on the 2014 OEM head unit with Navigation?

I have seen the pictures of the head unit posted by FLTrucks (back in October), but I cannot make out the model numbers on the white sticker on the top of the unit.

I have seen a 57092 number on the decorative plastic bezel just below the SD card location on the assembly, but I want to know the actual number(s) on the head unit/radio.

I'm asking for this information because I am trying to confirm a new head unit (replacing the non-Nav unit in my '14 Taco) that I'm getting thru a local LKQ dealer.

    Thanks for the help guys..

Any luck on finding the part number? I've been wondering the same question. Have messages FLTrucks several times with no response.

No specific model/part number provided yet for the 2014 Tacoma OEM navigation head unit.

However, I recently had a different navigation option installed by my local dealer. It integrated seamlessly with my 2014 Tacoma's NON-navigation head unit.

I have had it for a few weeks now, and it works great. The maps are very good. They are by iGo Primo.

Basically, this "navigation" is added to the existing head unit by installing a new printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) which integrates with the existing electronics on the head unit. When all is done, you have your stock OEM head unit, and one new small push button switch, and full navigation capabilities.

See web article below from this link -- http://www.ceoutlook.com/2014/02/10/gch-launches-navicamera-kits-for-toyota/
    ----------------------------------------
"GCH Automotive Systems will ship February 15 new add-on navigation systems and separate backup camera systems for 2014 Toyota vehicles.
The add-on navigation systems provide turn by turn directions with touch screen controls while keeping the original factory features. They work with 2014 Tundra and Tacoma models that have LCD- screen-based radios.

Also new is a backup camera solution that works with the trunk tailgate handle for a 2014 Tacoma. The system replace the handle with a factory-similar trunk handle with a rear-view camera. At the same time, the kit gives the driver a remote locking feature for the tailgate—a feature that is not available from the factory on many models. Once the camera install is complete, the installer inserts the driver’s key once and it is immediately coded, said GCH.
The kit also includes the integrated wiring harness to display the newly added camera image onto the factory 6.1″ LCD screen-based radio. It works on all models 2006-2014 and factory integrates for all LCD based Tacoma radios 2012-2014."
    -------------------------------------------------------

    Good luck..

$329, not my truck but I'm considering.

Yes there would be additional $$$ for harness, iphone cable etc. backup camera if needed.

It's an app driven stereo unless you are just bluetooth'ing handsfree and radio but who doesn't have their phone.

Did the dealership order that and installed it for you? I am also interested in the costs in doing this and where/how to get it.

For the navigation addition to the original "NON-nav" Tacoma head unit, the dealer who I bought the vehicle from ended up sub-contracting the job out to a local "aftermarket specialist".

Since I originally negotiated "navigation" to be included into my Tacoma Off-Road when I purchased/ordered the new vehicle last September, and because the dealership could not get a Navigation system in the Tacoma Off-Road model at the time of purchase, the dealer issued me a "We Owe You" slip to have Navigation installed when it became "available".

I originally thought the dealer would eventually swap out head units (similar to what Tacoma owners are doing themselves as described in Tacoma World forums) - The Non-Nav version for a Nav version that gets built into Tacoma Limited's. Toyota apparently does not or cannot (for reasons of cost or something else) do this seemingly simple swap.

So, months after my September purchase, I call the dealer to see if the Navigation option/addition was "available" for the Tacoma Off-Road. They told me it was available and they scheduled the appointment for the addition. Since I had the "We Owe You" slip, I was not charged. However, I believe the parts and labor were likely $700-$900. The system is new to the market for 2014 Tacomas and Tundras, but the concept has been around for other vehicles.

I am in Massachusetts and the aftermarket specialist that does the work for dealers around this region is Classic Design's http://www.classicdesigns.cc/

You can probably call them to get more details on this system.

Additionally, check out the following video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR72ODm-SFU which shows the basic install process (into a Rav4) for a competing system (ROSTRA). I do not know if there is a Rostra system designed to fit into the Tacoma..

    Hope this information helps ..

:D:D:DThanks for the info drhntr. I was looking into GCH add on. Their information http://www.ceoutlook.com/2014/02/10/gch-launches-navicamera-kits-for-toyota/ . I emailed them and they quoted somewhere around $1000 for an add on.

I think at this price, I am going to go aftermarket instead. I was looking into AppRadio 3 by Pioneer. There is a hack that can allow you to mirror your phone to the unit for full access. Sounds interesting and price from Crutchfield is $329...

never swapped a oem headunit in a tacoma, but have in other vehicles several times. if you plan to swap the whole unit out, you WILL NEED the lock code or when you put it in, it will be locked up. you have access to the original truck it came in? you should be able to take a disk any disk and have the headunit read the disc's serial code and store as the lock code. then when you install in your truck MAKE SURE you have that exact physical disc and when it asks for lock code put that disk in.

like i said i never did a swap on a taco, but EVERY other car/truck i ever did an oem swap it was required.

FYI, this was many years ago, like 2005-2006 i think, i did swap to aftermarket, but it was the just like the one in my lexus at the time, i researched it and it was made by fujitsu, maybe also look into doing someting like that to.

    cheers,
    disco

x2 here. Been emailing back and forth all day and for $1k and no map updates for life (their's will be about $80 every two years or so) I think I'll stick with my Garmin with LT maps free. I can do without the Nav and I don't need the Apps with an iPod and USB drive.

Fellas, sorry to barge in but you guys seem to know a bit about head-units!
I'm working on a project and want to splice in to / override the video signal to the display (similar to how the reverse camera video is toggled -- based on how the display flickers when shifting in/out of reverse, it appears this is done via hardware).
Any ideas if the standard Entune video being delivered to the display is VGA or DVI?
If you can point me in the right direction (or any direction), I'd appreciate it! Thanks.
