2014 Tacoma Oil Change & Valve Chatter

If the noise truly showed up AFTER the last oil change maybe try using a different filter, see if that helps

The chances of a bad oil filter are low but never zero

Sometimes the new filter will come with plastic over the open end. One time I found a piece of that plastic down in the filter and partially blocking the oil flow

 

Wondering if the chatter started after the oil change with synthetic oil....going back to conventional will yield some additional information. See video

Sometimes in the winter mine makes so much noise one would think the engine is going to explode when first starting. I first heard this about 8 years ago. I don’t give it a second thought these days on the odd time it happens now. Also I second the high test as it does quiet down a bit. For different reasons of course. I used to think that it quieted down a bit after I changed my oil, or that it ran better but it didnt. Placebo effect.
