I too was a victim of the 2014 taco temp gauge scandal. I spent 45 mins at the dealership searching frantically for what seemed like the most basic of features. The salesman even helped me and was baffled by the fact that it wasn't available when we finally found out it didn't exist. It wasn't a deal breaker for me, though, and I opted for an aftermarket temp gauge. It cost me less than $20, and it gives me real time temp readings both inside and outside, which, from what I've been told, the new Entune weather app doesnt do. I'm happy:D

does not care because she lives in Ca. I emailed Toyota CS and expressed my opinions on this and other things. We need to bombard them with emails.

I forgot to mention, the temp gauge in my pic is a Sainspeed 7045V from Amazon.com. I've come to realize after installing that the clock built into the gauge resets itself every time I turn the truck on... Not a deal breaker since the truck has a working clock but still annoying nonetheless. The temp is consistent with my home thermometer within a degree. I might just put black tape over the dysfunctional clock display and call it good.

Might the clock require constant power? I wouldn't think the unit would draw much power. Sounds like it is on switched power and resets from being turned off....just a thought.

Looked it up online....one of the posts said the clock has a button battery for its back up power. As it seems to be a China unit, you might try replacing the button battery for the clock and see if that allows it to keep time. Pretty cool unit for the small price.

The gauge is sticky mounted in place, and to be honest, the idea of having two clocks in my truck actually sounds more annoying than helpful. While I may be able to install or replace a dead battery in the unit to fix the problem, I don't think its worth scrapping a sticky mount over. I found some sticky carbon bike frame protectors I'll cut to fit the screen and cover the clock for good. Thanks for your input, though!

Mike, many thanks for the wireless outside temperature solution. Maybe for Christmas one of SoCal Tacoma product managers will recognize the safety value of an outside temperature thermometer and heated mirrors, especially when it gets close to freezing. I also would like to see locking gas tank filler doors, higher capacity charging systems, better starter solenoid contacts as standard equipment.

How was the install on this? Just plug it into the cig lighter 12v?

Where did you put the outside temp sensor?

Good luck. Dealer told me it is on my sat. Radio. Which doesn't pick up within 100 miles of where I live

They fucked up big time with this.

    I use the compass daily.

I use the outside temp daily.

    Auto dimming is nice too.

Previous models had it, then they take it away.

What else have they cut corners on?

Entune sucks a fat one on the Tacoma.

Has there been any resolution to this other than installing an aftermarket display or rearview mirror? Topic seems dead. It's been cold here in the northeast past week but not the -999 my Entune head unit says it is.
Could this be the local weather repeater is down, or a hardware issue?
When in the weather app I can go to other cities across the country and get relatively accurate readings for this time of year, but the local reading are as shown in the pic.

    Thanks in advance.
