I have an outside company that can add a auto dimming mirror with outside temp and compass for $379.00. I have woreked for Toyota for 22 yrs. and have never seen them do something like this. They should pay the whole expense to have it itstalled. Look at the money they are spending installing frames! I just had a customer who has a 2001 Tacoma 2wd regular cab with 205,000 miles and Toyota just put a new frame on it. That is a 8000 dollar job!?!?

No they shouldn't. If it is not listed on the sticker then you don't get that option. If it is listed and not included with your truck then yes, they should honor it. If you buy the truck and it is not listed then it is your fault not Toyota's simple as that.

Your frame argument doesn't hold water and is quite frankly silly.

To B Turner: if you read my earlier thread I mentioned that Toyota had put the outside temp guage on the window sticker my mistake and they were sending out $100 checks to make up for the error.
Also, I was just trying to show that Toyota is very liberal with their money when it comes to the Tacoma/Tundra frames. I don't think its 'silly'. Toyota tends to hold back as much as they can before they totally give in. I was just hoping they wouldn't do that in this situation. I was hoping they would just step up and either install it or pay for the error. I only say this because it was on the window sticker!

What do I refer to when calling Toyota to get the $100?

I just had the Gentech mirror installed by one of their distributors. Turns out they do all of the local dealership installs for various add-ons. Cost me north of $400 out the door. I was disappointed that the truck didn't have it, but just paid for it myself anyway.

Contact toyota and tell them you are inquiring about the $100 refund they are giving to 2014 Tacoma owners who have no outside temp guage. They will ask for your vin#. They will fax you a form that you sign and send back. They send the check out within a week you you sendingf the form back top them.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
I have a 2014 DCSB 4x4 OR (entune navi) that came with the basic mirror. Under the headliner at the mirror is what looks like a power cable (possibly for the auto dim mirror).

So what is a good thermometer for our trucks that could be mounted in the roof console? Anyone have an old one to sell? I think the temp sensor is in the grill already. An in/out gauge is VERY useful. There isn't climate control, so knowing what the inside temp would be groovy.

Also, could always go with one (like this) from Amazon, and get humidity to boot! Splurge and get atomic time and forecasting! Is there something like this for automotive applications that isn't $300 or more for a fancy auto dimming mirror that has a temp gauge?

This thread offers some good aftermarket options.

Actually that is incorrect. Mine uses the data from my phone for traffic, weather, internet, movies, etc....

Every time I use the weather function it displays that it is using my phone data plan and if I want to continue.

That's how my 2012 is too. Not sure if there's something different on the 2014s though. Could be why they didn't care to put a temp gauge on the mirror???

On the Entune Audio Plus, it most definitely is correct! There is NO data use on my unit, it isn't even possible on the Plus systems, you can't even make it use data, it just isn't an option!
Now, the Premium systems are different and I don't have any experience with them so the 2014s may or may not be the same as you describe.
I think traffic is displayed via the satellite radio service, on mine, because once I let the Sirius expire I don't think the traffic works anymore... But, weather is displayed via HD radio ONLY on my truck.

Maybe so on your truck. Traffic, weather, radar, etc. uses my data plan on my phone connected through BT. When I select the option it automatically notifies me that it will use my data plan on my phone and asks my permission. Entune then starts on my phone (Android) and all functions run off of that. Mine is the 13 JBL Entune with Nav so it may be different I don't know. I do know I don't get traffic updates until I start the Entune option on my phone (and yes I have XM activated). Then it works perfectly along with weather and radar.

    Your's may be different.

Holy shit. My 2014 DC Sport doesn't have this either.

Not on the sticker. I didn't even know this was an option.

Must be nice, EAP in 2014 has none of the apps shown on your screen, well weather and traffic, but those do not use the phones data.

Bought an autodim, homelink, floating compass mirror from Bob (the above link). It was great. Bought a used one, looked like new, installed it myself in 10 minutes. The wire is already run under the headliner of 2014's. Didn't do the temp because I didn't want to run the temp sensor and the entune unit shows the weather anyhow on the 2014's.

You have to get the highest level of Entune, not even sure what it's called. Then you get all the apps, even in 2014.

It's the entune audio premium with nav. There is actually one higher, the JBL.
