My 2014 TRD offroad 4x4 did not have the auto dimming mirror and temp. gauge, didn't come with it.
I ordered and installed the home link mirror, has a compass and buttons on it to program garage door etc. also auto dim.
The new mirror has no temp. display, you can get that.
If I want to know the temp. I look at my cell phone or on the weather app on the etune radio.

It displays the broadcasted temp, not the actual temp where you are.

So glad I've got a 13 with none of these issues. Mine uses the cell phone data for weather for my location and it is always within a few degrees of the temp in the mirror.

    Glad I didn't get a 14

The temp on my phone will use data according to my location, within a few miles.

That does not work on the Entunes Plus, the temp comes over the HD radio and is/was almost always wrong.

    Things I need to tow.
Glad I got a '14 with the backup cam display on the main screen. I have the auto-dim mirror, compass and Homelink, just no temp. Solved that with a good aftermarket wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer for under $30. Never got why not having the temp (or compass for that matter) in the mirror was such a cause for consternation. I've found the lack of full dash and door switchgear illumination way more unsettling.

Oh man that sucks. Yeah, mine uses my phones data through BT and works pretty damn good. I could see how the HD radio would fuck that all up.

I really don't mind the camera in the mirror. Works just fine to me. I like having the compass and temp there too.

I kinda wish I had a thermometer so when I drive up home in the winter with wet weather I can realize if the roads are borderline freezing. But I reckon the I-phone will cover that.

We are not building rockets here, so what if the broadcast temp. is a few degrees off.
I just want to know the approx. temp.
If I want to know the true temp. I will lick my finger and stick it out the window.
I see you are off your meds again?

Actually, having an outside temperature reading is sometimes critical. For instance, when driving over a mountain pass, I need to know if it is freezing outside so that I can adjust my driving speed and method. The HD Radio temperature does not work when driving through the mountains. Even so, I've seen the readings "as of 60 minutes ago". This isn't very useful. Road conditions change quickly and knowing the actual outside temperature helps.

Keep those hands on the wheel... don't stick that uncalibrated licked finger out the window while driving!

My 2014 TRD sport does not have outside temp gauge nor home link , so I went and bought a gentex rear view mirror from our fellow member for 140$ and took me 1hr30mins to wire sensor, now I have a auto dimming rear view mirror with temperature and compass . No home link though cuz i don't want to pay 299$ for the mirror . I will post some picture tomoorw

My buddies '13 sport has the mirror with temp in it. I just bought a '14 OR and didn't have it. Would be really nice to have, not looking forward to paying $140 for a new mirror and having to run the power cord though.

And by wrong, I mean 100 miles away wrong. Tell me, how helpful is that?

I wish I had nav / lighted 4x4 switch. Toyota can't seem to light a simple switch

I fixed my 2014 outside temp gauge problem. I installed a La Crosse Technology WS-9002U-CAMO Wireless Camouflage Thermometer. Placed the sensor as close to the front grille with some water protection. Keep it out of direct rain and forced water. No wires...works great. Measures both inside cab and outside temps...with no wires at all!!!! Love it under $20.00 bucks. Unit handles south Florida heat inside the cab well.
