Nice..but overkill if you just want outside temp. All the other stuff for the most part is handled via the onboard nav system.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
This situation is somewhat narrow, since the entune and "plus" options aren't present of most trucks:

So frustrating...if anyone has insight on this, it would be appreciated if you could 'splain the reasoning. If the temperature sensor is present because of the A/C, why would Toyota make the entune get its value from some quasi-nearby weather station instead of the onboard?

The obvious would be the less integration cost since its just a data value from the over-the-air data feed instead of data connect from the ECU, and that is a stretch considering entune systems keeps track of all kinds of data from the ECU (mileage, etc.)...why no temp too?? Toyota, you disappoint!

I have a 2014 Offroad with Entune Premium with the weather app. So I obviously have AC. I also have a scanguage and tried the Toyota X-Guage code and it doesn't work. I realize I can just get it through intake temperature guage, but that is always atleast 7 degrees or more off (depending on speed)

Its alright man. I'm not one to bicker with people about stuff like that. I just wish i had the sensor stuck in my wiring harness somewhere so i could just get the mirror.

Is Toyota still offering the $100 for the missing temp gauge?

After 3 months of research and finding parts, I have a working outside temperature gauge back in my 2014 Tacoma! It was a lot of work, but the results have been great. As noted before, the HD signal isn't available where you really need it. Yesterday, the HD radio said that the outside temperature was 68 degrees. My newly installed OHC gauge said it was actually 81 degrees! the HD signal was getting temperature from a town 30 miles away.

As discussed in other threads, there are two types of OHC consoles available. The 2005-2008 (requires 6 wires) and the 2009-whatever year they stopped making them, which requires 5 wires).

Only 2 wires are available in the roof lining. The remaining wires need to be routed to two different connectors and to the temperature sensor. If a newer OHC is used, you can probably tap in to the existing sensor.

The biggest challenge was modifying the OHC so that the microphone could be added. I'm putting together detailed information if anyone is interested.

    Hi

Just joined the forum, have a three week old 4x4 DBL TRD Sport.

When I picked up my truck up I only noticed when I got home there was no auto dimming mirror or outside temp gauge. I called the dealership and explained and they said they would get back to me, which they did, they said that although it is in the brochure as part of the TRD Sport package it is not longer part of the package. I politely explained that I bought the trucked based on that specification and my expectation is that they would make this right - ie install a auto dimming mirror with temp gauge. Next day the customer relationship manager from the dealer called and say they are trying to source the part and will let me know. Sure enough they agreed to install the auto dimming mirror with temp gauge. It took a week or so for the part to come (OEM Gentex) and they put me in a loaner for a day so they could install it.

Overall I am happy they put this right, but for sure if I had not been firm with them I doubt they would have done it.

My advice put some polite pressure on your dealer to make the missing specification right.

The dealer I bought the truck at was Joe Myers in Houston, there were pleasant to deal with and low pressure sales. ( I previously walked out a different dealership due to high pressure sales)

As I mentioned to the salesman, I work hard to earn my money and will choose where I spend it!

Apart from the hiccup with the mirror/ temp gauge I am very happy with my truck, the Spruce Mica color has attracted lots of positive comments.

So what brochure does it say the TRD Sport Package comes with the auto dimming mirror and temp gauge? I looked on Toyota's web page and did not see it listed there. Is it a brochure at the dealership? if so is it still at the dealership so one can get some proof before calling the dealership?
    Thanks

Found the 2014 eBrochure on Toyota site. Only lists the auto-dimmer and temp gauge on the limited package. They can probably update that though whenever they want.

I've got to look at my window sticker also, and see if the auto and temp gauge were suppose to be on my truck (2014 TRD OR). Not something I'm gonna get insane about, but if it's on the sticker I'm getting it! The entune display shows weather from my phone, including temp. So it's not super important, but definitely makes the truck a little nicer. Plus if it gives me a compass that's a big plus!

Thanks for the scans guys. I just contacted my salesman from the Toyota dealership by email and told him to schedule me in to have the mirror swapped out....we will see what happens.
