    Hello everyone,

I have a 2014 Tacoma. Yesterday I went to drive my truck and the TRAC Off and Check engine light were on. Today I plugged in a code reader and it gave me the code P0328 Knock sensor 1 circuit high input (bank 1). From the research I’ve already done it sounds like the code indicates that I have to take the entire motor apart and replace a knock sensor, but if that was the issue I can’t figure out why the TRAC Off light came on. Can anyone confirm what the solution to this is/risk in driving before fixing. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The TRAC system can retard the engine to try and 'help' traction.

This might be the issue, the TRAC system can not do what it is supposed to be able to, because of previous error. So it is disabled.

Many engine codes will disable the Traction Control system because the Traction Control relies on the Engine Control system to be working properly.

It's very common for critters to chew the wires off the knock sensors, unfortunately they are a pain to get at as they are in the valley of the engine under the lower intake and water outlet pipe that is sandwiched under the cylinder head intake ports. Some members have fixed them without removing the coolant pipe assembly but it can be removed if the brackets that hold them together are cut.

just clear it and put in a new knock sensor. that sensor only goes off when it detects pre ignition unless you have a wiring problem

Willing to bet its chewed wires. Look around engine bay, air intake manifold and see if there are rodent tracks, poop, pee, dead rodent etc.

Is there a way to examine the harness wires before taking apart the engine?

If you had a borescope you could poke around under there and see if you can see anything otherwise not really, it's pretty well covered up by the intake manifolds.
The intake manifolds aren't terrible to get off if it comes to that.
