Just FYI, the 2013 ordered at the end of June was not approved by Toyota because 2014 production was too close. My dealer negotiated a trade with a dealer out of the region who had the same truck (with 2 additions which I will not be charged for) approved for build as a 2013.

So I got my VIN and spec sheet. To be built the week of August 5 and delivered no later than end of August.

If you haven't ordered a 2013 and you can't find one on a lot, seems like you may be out of time. Be wary of dealers who say they can order a 2013 from Toyota.

When did you find out? My order for a 2013 was submitted July 17, and I was told it was approved by Toyota. It is an AC 2.7 4WD 5 spd Spruce Mica ordered without SR5 or Convenience pkg, so they wouldn't have been able to find an approved build to trade for.

I found out this past Friday. No clue when dealer looked into the order and was told that.
My order was placed Friday June 28, or the following Monday. 2013 PreRunner DCSB SR5 Super White 2.7 auto with alloys.

Must be dependent on what is already slated to be produced before 2014 models start production?

It will be 6-8 weeks from my order date, which is still what I was expecting. Though it sucks I now have a date to look forward to. Anticipation is harder than mystery!

Btw I'm a little jealous. I would love 2.7 4x4 in DCSB but no dice, and I need a real back seat for kids.

No, Christmas is always on Dec 25 & you might get what you asked for. You don't know exactly when you'll get your Tacoma, but it better be exactly what you specified. :D

My buddy thought it was too long! I thought it was pretty reasonable. Any idea what an average special order takes?

From what I was told back when I got my Tacoma, the Baja's are built in a pretty limited production run, so not available for order or anything like that. They build the batch, and then done for the model year. So you have to take what's out there basically.

I had 2 dealers + Toyota CS tell me back in April that I could order one. I did not want to pay for the side graphics and the only way to get one without was to order. The other option was for the dealer to just meet the price I wanted to pay. In the end that it what they did. It may have just been timing on the order.
