    2014 Toyota Tacoma SRS PreRunner
305/65R17 Dick Cepek Fun Country Mickey Thompson Classic 3 Blk Wheels / Rough Country 3in Lift N-Fab Steps
    Hi,

I am new to the Tacoma world and I bought my first truck this year (2014). I bought a brand new 2014 Toyota Tacoma and immediately did some upgrades to it. Before I did the upgrades my Truck was easy to handle on bumpy roads and at high speeds but now that I installed 305/65R17 Dick Cepek Fun Country tires and Mickey Thompson Classic 3 Blk Wheels and Rough Country 3 in Lift with N-Fab Steps my ride is extremely rough and my Truck is so hard to control on the Highway. When I hit bumps at speeds over 55mph I feel as though I might lose control and fishtail. Note: I did not get a new suspension so I still have stock suspension. I literally have to keep both hands on the wheel because when I hit bumps or when the road is uneven my truck wants to go with the direction of the bump or the uneven road and into another driving lane. I cant relax and just drive with one arm at speeds over 55mph.

Any help or suggestions to my problem is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like your lift is just spacers and blocks. That would explain some roughness. What tire pressure are you running

Are the wheels balance? What are your alignment numbers? Stock UCA?

Did you get it aligned after? Rough country lifts aren't exactly the smoothest. If you still have stock suspension you must have blocks.

Sounds like you need a good set of UCA's to regain caster you lost with the rough country lift. The low caster is making your truck wander while driving.

I personally don't understand why people do this stuff to 2 wheel drives to begin with. You have basically taken a perfectly good 2 wheel drive truck and turned it into a sloppy driving 4 wheel drive wanna bee.

I mean no offence at all, but it truly puzzles me. I'm sure your truck looks sweet, but at what expense?

If I was you, I would go back to stock and enjoy the nice smooth ride that Toyota provided for you when you drove off the lott.

Here is a very good basic lift with great ride results.

I see one issue, running those huge tires on stock suspension will make it 'wander' on the highway

Sounds like you need a set of Lift spindles, this is the best way to lift a 2wd truck. With spindles your ride will be back to stock and you'll get 3.5-4" of lift.

Cheap lift + massive tires = crappy ride. Probably should've done some research before throwing that stuff on there. I can't believe your tires aren't rubbing like crazy. Most people have 285s tops for tires.

Dafuq are you guys talking about UCA's. Fact is that I got a fully lifted, done correctly, aligned correctly truck which drives really freaking good and feels like a truck should on the highway and on the street's. it's also an off-road beast, which I have been jumping. Don't believe me? Ask Nick, Mademan925, he has wheeled with me before. I push my junk as hard if not harder then a lot of the guys wheeling out there without the need of UCA's. Did you see me purchasing a UCA to accomplish good alignment results and do the same thing you guys do? Nope.

    :)

    Flame on. Shots fired.

Some get lucky, some don't. I'm on stock UCA's also but it wouldn't hurt to get some more camber out of a set of aftermarket UCA's.
