    1st Mod - OverHead Console Compass / Temperature Addition

    The other threads on this do not detail how to add the Compass/Temp to a 2nd Generation when it did not come installed from the factory. Some mention they've done it, but the threads are missing or have confusing critical information on the wiring.

    This case the subject is a 2014 TRD 4x4 Double Cab

    It came with a MIC in between the lights and (2) sunglass holders
    20170101_160256.jpg

    I then proceeded to purchase an older unit from eBay that had the holder for the Compass/Temp Unit ($125)
    20170101_160304.jpg

    I then purchased the Compass/Temp until from a Toyota Dealer ($97 + $7 shipping)

    I gathered these tools to perform the surgery
    20170101_174221.jpg

    Then proceeded to remove the sunglasses holder from my existing unit. The pivot point and the clasp to open, close the door extend too far for the Compass holder, so I trimmed those. The units are held by what appears to be plastic rivots. I had to break those to remove the light unit and the Glasses holder unit, like wise on the 2005 assembly to remove the Compass holder.

    After putting it all together, I now have an assembly that holds a Compass holder, Compass, MIC, lights and one of the original Glasses holders.

    I used JB Weld to replace the functionality of the plastic rivots that I broke during the surgery

    I was lucky enough that my truck already had the ambient sensor
    20170105_122056.jpg

    Update:
    @adio and @kgarrett11 were kind enough to share the wiring details necessary; see 135. So I'll be doing some more surgery and will update here when done.

    Note: The connector on the Compass/Temp Unit is 10P04K-M. Finding a female for this is tuff.

    I ordered 5 (minimum) from Eastern Beaver MotorCycle, so if someone needs one, I can send you one for my cost+shipping.

    Male Connection, Facing Open End
    1 = Lt. Green from AutoDim Connector (Green Wire = Accessory Power)
    2 = White/Black from AutoDim Connector (White/Black Wire = Ground)
    3 = Violet from VSS
    4 = Red from AutoDim Connector (Red Wire = Battery)
    5 = TEMP + (Yellow or Violet/White)
    6 = TEMP - (Grey)

    2nd Mod - HomeLink AutoDim Rear View Mirror (GENK40A)

    To start with I had a base mirror, I then purchased a HomeLink, Autodim Mirror from eBay (aka Bob's Automotive Mirrors & More LLC) for $170. You can get it cheaper, but Bob has a good reputation, so I went that route
    20170107_101052.jpg

    20170106_151026.jpg

    The connection in my overhead had both male and female ends, but the female end is odd shape. Just remove it and discard.
    20170107_100922.jpg 20170107_100938.jpg

    Now remove the one screw holding the mirror in place
    20170107_100904.jpg

    And run the wire through the hole already in the overhead
    20170107_101140.jpg

    Add the cover to make it clean, program your Homelink with the instructions (Bob's your uncle) and you're done.

    3rd Mod - Radio Upgrade

    First, get your hands on a 57092, and hope you can find a deal, because people think they are made of gold.

    Next, get your tools together
    20170114_130905.jpg

    Then remove the Atmosphere controls
    20170114_102311.jpg

    Then remove the (4) 10mm bolts
    20170114_102815.jpg

    Remove the 4 bolts on each side the bracket, unplug the connectors, and remove those plastic holders on the sides. Best way i found to do that is with a needle nose player.
    20170114_105641.jpg

    Now reverse and load your startup image
    Screen Shot 2017-01-15 at 4.06.39 PM.jpg

    Now you have a Navi Head Unit life is good.

    Out of curiosity, any reason why you opted for the mirror without temperature and added the temperature display from an older Taco?

    Seems like you spent more money, and lost a sunglass holder?

    Depending on where you live.. be strategic about stickers like the "iPAC" and "Infidel" ones.

    People are crazy and they WILL vandalize something inanimate because it triggers them.

    With the tailgate locked are you able to remove the extender?

    I keep a cable gun lock on mine. Wouldn't take much to remove,but it's a deterrent.

    Yes, it's a good combo that I had the same thought and researched before purchase. Next thing I'm adding is a bed cover, but not decided on model yet. The thing I want is the one lock to secure the tail and secure the cover.

    BTW, I added the tail lock first to keep the extender from sprouting legs.

    I read a ton on here and on various sites and settled on the Bakflip. I then found out that Gator and Bakflip are the same, but you can get a good discount by buying direct from Gator. Open a chat window and ask them for a discount, then ask a second time. I got $90 off

    Close to calling this boy done. Things I have left to do:

    11. Add 110v AC outlet in cab at back of console
    12. Add dual-head USB charging port in place of one of the (2) lighter ports
    13. Add seat heaters
    14. Add convenience lights for driver and passenger foot area
    15. Add convenience light overhead, like in the series 3 Prius
    16. Add rear sliding window control
