Okay I bought a brand new 2014 DBSB 4x4. I lifted the truck 4" in the front 2" in the rear.
I noticed some vibrations so I shimmed the carrier bearing and they went away. I now notice vibes with I'm stopping only between 30-20 miles an hour, again only as I'm stopping. Anyone else have this issue ? Anyone with a stock truck with the same thing ? I also have uniball uca's and blocks in the rear till my aal shows in the mail.

Any particular direction you feel/hear the problem from?

Edit: I think you have a drop bracket lift. I've heard of steering bearing/packing issues with your lift manufacture before, and I can't remember where I saw that post though.

No just feels like suspension. I'm gonna knock it down to 3 inches next week. Maybe that will fix it.

See my edit below. I've heard bad things about getting the steering and front end aligned well with the tough country setup. Good luck!

Guy who aligned my truck had no issues. Their uca's are pretty nice and built well. My alignment is exactly on spec. I only got the tuff country lift to get me by until I get some kings. Could you be referring to rough country ? I've heard bad stuff about them and the shop I deal with won't even install their products.

Okay, sorry you're confusing me. I'll try to clarify as best I can. If your lift is a suspension lift do not exceed 3" of lift. Over 3" takes the CV joints out of there allowed range of motion and could lead to the vibs you described.

If you have a drop bracket lift then 4" of lift is fine. Since the drop bracket lift will put your cv's and knuckle at the stock alignment, there shouldn't be any issues getting a good alignment. However there have been complaints on here that some drop bracket lifts cause steering system issues. From what I remember it has something to do with the steering bearing/bearings off the top of my head having excessive pressure placed on them from the change in angles.

Also, I have another idea, did you change the brake lines when you added 4" of lift? If the lines are poor or have been stretched (4" is a long way for stock lines when the suspension extends) then you could get some strange feedback when slowing down.

I'm gonna go down to either 3 or 2.5 in the front and 1.5 in the rear. I didn't change the brake lines because they did have a good amount of play in them still afterwards. I was thinking it's from the front spacer. With that spacer it makes the truck ride super rough. In your opinion who has the best 4 inch drop down lift ? That's the route I will end with.

Those vibrations are worse than the ones I'm dealing with. It's not really that much of a vibration but I don't want to make it worse.

In my opinion going with a drop bracket lift is not a good idea. I won't list all the reasons for why I believe that but quite simply a drop bracket lift is not much more capable than a stock height truck yet it adds additional structural points of failure both on and off road. If you've done a drop bracket lift and your shop has had to cut/weld in things you may be too far along to turn back easily.

If I had the money this is the best kit IMHO to install on your Taco for 3" front end lift:

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/ICON-Stage-3-Tacoma-suspension_p_967.html

You can buy it from any ICON dealer. Not only do you get a true mid travel kit but your ride on and off road should be BETTER than stock! The system is also fully adjustable.

If you're too far along and have to stick with a drop bracket lift or really want that 4-6" lifted look I think Pro Comp is probably the best way to go.

X2, just swap the billet uca's for the tubular ones! OP,, are your tires balanced properly? I think it's not a bad idea to eliminate the inexpensive possibilities before anything else.

I hope so, the truck only has 1043 miles on it.

I think I figured the issue out, now I just have to fix it. I think when I installed the rear blocks the rear end didn't rotate up to match the angle of the drive shaft. I am going to fix ASAP and test.

If your blocks are tapered small end goes facing forward.

They weren't :( what about an aal ? Will that fix the angle of the rear end to align straighter with the drive shaft ?
