Local dealership got a 2014 DCSB TRD in so went and checked it out. From what I can tell the only noticeable differences were:

    • New stereo head unit
    • REMOVED Auto Dimming Mirror
    • NO temperature display but sensor was in the grill in front of radiator
    • Different steering wheel controls for stereo
    • Backup camera moved to stereo, again cheap mirror.

Am I missing anything? Not sure why anyone would grab a 2014 over a 2013 if that is all they changed. It seems to me they deprecated a couple nice features.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Things i like about my 2013 over my 2012

    -Access cab
    -manual
    -new stereo head unit
-auto dimming mirror instead of homelink with autodim
-same steering wheel controls, accept that stupid voice button is GONE!

No none of the small things would have made me change, the access cab and manual were what got me.

I currently have a 2008 Manual Access Cab. It's the base model so no power windows or anything fancy but I did add: Intermittent wipers, a new stereo with backup camera and the overhead console with compass and temp. I've got 140,000 miles on it and cannot share the car with anyone in my family as no one knows or is willing to learn to drive a standard. This can be a problem as it's a farm truck on top of my commuter so when those two things conflict I've got to be home or take time off to operate the truck. Major reason why I would upgrade is for automatic transmission.

I got my 2013 in May and was debating about waiting for the 2014.
However, I was afraid there might be drastic changes I wouldn’t like.
From what you’re saying I am glad that there aren’t any major changes.
As it is, when I search for accessories I find myself in the available for “2012 – 2013” bracket.
By not having any major changes for 2014 it keeps and encourages the third party accessory suppliers to keep supplying the 2nd generation now 2012 - 2014 Tacos which also gives us broader choices.

    Just love my 2013 !!!

I don't know what configuration you were looking at but the SR5 package and up has the auto dimming mirror.

Not major, but would have liked the new head unit with the Text feature and satellite radio. The 2013 seems to be the only recent year where satellite radio was deleted.

Do you have the Entune package? In Canada, you could only get that on the Limited package and I did not care for that at all.

The 2012 TRD Sports in Canada had standard satellite, as do the 2014's. :(

Oh well, I will get over it. Saw the new blue color today, it is quite nice but much lighter and with a lot of sparkle in the paint as compared to my Nautical Blue. Can't fight the changes I guess.

^ This. Although I'm sure a firmware upgrade can fix that. How does one get an upgrade?:(

I was thinking this too. I've been looking for one but haven't seen anything about it online. Probably something you gotta have the dealer do.

I planned to wait on the 14's, but was worried there would be major changes. I went and looked and they had the exact truck/color/package I wanted, so I struck while the iron was hot on my 13. I could have lived with the differences, but prefer things as they are on the 13. I like the back up cam in the mirror, as for me I feel looking into the rear view vs downward at the HU helps my peripheral vision a little better (individual experiences and opinions may vary). I like the auto dim and temp/comp but it wouldn't be a deal breaker on a 14. I like that my 13 has it though.

I agree with your thoughts about cam placement, the mirror makes sense as that is where we should be looking anyway.

I test drove a few 13's and though the tiny screen in the mirror was okay but the larger screen in the HU is very nice!

I have my 2014 for 2 weeks now. I am disappointed in the entunes, it is a plus package, not what I thought. No temp gauge for the outside. No navigation, or weather where I live. No direction indicator, which is no big deal. All in all I am happy bu I wish the salesman that told me it had entunes was more knowledgeable.
