Thank you for proving my point somewhat, as model years don't always run January to December, so it can be confusing if someone looks at production period of parts that way.

Of course, that's correct. The bed sizes haven't changed. I never said he was incorrect about the sizes. Just that one couldn't tell if he was specifically saying that the 2nd gen. has been out since 2005 or the "2005 model year". It is misleading to say that anyway, as the 2G has been out a little longer than that, since February 2004 (reached dealer lots a bit later).

Choosing to look at what I said from a limited viewpoint, may give you the impression I'm talking out of thin air. Some TWers keep screwing up the difference between release/introductory year versus model year or claiming "9 years is nothing", when it's actually a solid 10 and possibly the oldest Toyota model generation. I do have a point anyway.

Wasn't saying you were entirely wrong, as they definitely haven't changed sizes since the '05 model and I'm quite aware of that as well. As for parts going by model year only, I still disagree with that, as it is not entirely true everywhere. Particularly outside of the US/N. Amer. on other Toyota models (Tacoma is N.A.-only), where model years don't really exist and everything is based on build/reg year.

There are some sites in which vehicle parts are differentiated by build date, especially if changes to a part occur within the same model year (ex. 2005 model year part: 09/2004-11/2004 vs 12/2004-07/2005). This definitely isn't the case here though with the 2G bed dimensions anyway, as again, Toyota never even changed anything. (I should remember that is Tacoma World not Toyota World.)

Some other 2005 model year Tacoma parts might easily mirror my example of differing production periods. For that reason, you cannot always just say "since 20XX" without pointing out if you're referring to model year specifically. One wouldn't refer to a 2015-specific show/presentation that starts this October as merely "since 2015" would they? Obviously what I'm talking about is very much unrelated to the discussion at hand, so I'll end it there.

I do not want to further derail this thread, so that's all I have to say and wish the OP well on finding a tonneau cover. OP, I actually had to substitute 2013 model Tacomas on finding parts for my truck late last year, as some sites were too slow to put up info on the 2014 models or even register them into their system. I get what you are saying but typically don't have to use build dates. Yes, I get the point where there are scenarios where you need it but it all the vehicles out there I am willing to bet its a minority especially in dealing with bed size.

Well, excuse me if I don't champion being arrogantly ignorant. Being new here has nothing to do with level of intelligence, especially in how I delayed my 2nd Tacoma purchase/joining TW. I made a minor nitpick, but others chose to further address it. Not my problem that they didn't leave well enough alone.

Well, since January 2005 or 2005 model year? The current generation came out in 2004 as a 2005 model, so concerning parts, one might see 2nd generation stuff with "September 2004" as a build date.

"Since 2005" gives the false impression the bed size was last changed back in '05 and that early production 2nd gen. Tacomas from late 2004 may be different.

Really dude? I would refrain from making direct personal insults, when your word/credibility can be questioned as well with such a lazy argument in the other thread you randomly linked to. Does not make someone else "immature", because they openly disagreed with your own comment against others' helpful 3rd gen suggestions. Makes you ageist though (in regards to my age), as I don't even pick out everything. I've met plenty of idiots 20-30 years older than me.

I do bother picking out things that I read as misleading (info-wise) to others or are in response to me, because misinformation spreads around easily and turn into baseless rumors. I came across this thread in searching for a past insider (Tacoma supplier) about the 3rd generation, not to go back and forth on differing opinions.

More importantly, let's not further inflame this (it's a mess already) and continue to derail from the bed size discussion. I am done here and so is this pretty much this thread, since the OP's question was properly addressed. Hopefully it won't get locked as a result.
