2015 4.0L. Engine rattle noise.

Hello all. I have an interesting noise coming from the engine or engine area of my 191K mile trd off road. When I slow to a stop I hear a rattle noise coming from the engine bay. The noise persist until I either let off the brake or put it in neutral. I have no check engine light and I have no codes when I scan it. I do admit my truck needs some maintenance but I have replaced the plugs a year ago and I always do my oil changes and other fluids at regular intervals. This rattle has stated about 2 months ago. Other than this noise the truck drives great.

Not sure I'm hearing the rattle in your clip, but my kid's 98 4Runner started to make a metallic rattle. Turns out the cat heatshield rusted out and was loose. Might be worth a check (and the vehicle isn't from the salt belt, but I guess after that many years, everything rusts!)

 

Exhausts love to rattle at stoplights. Check the heat shields

 

I checked all the heat shields. No dice. BTW...I live in the Inland Empire of SoCal. Not a spot of rust on this truck.
