My son's GF is looking at a 2015 4x4 xtracab with 67K. It's at the dealer right now as they just got it in on trade. Anything special to look for on 2015's? I told my son to try to get the Carfax on it. I'm thinking it will need diff oil, T-case oil, spark plugs. I'm going to check out TSB's. Is the rear springs a TSB on these like my 2010 was? Or should she look at getting 3rd gen? Thanks in advance!!!

    Too few to list.
Depends on the pricing vs new. Also good to note that the 5spd and 4.0L in the 2nd Gen are reliable and yet to be determined on the new trucks. I used to have a 3rd Gen auto and the shift logic in the new trucks caused me to get rid of it. It's always on the wrong gear. You can also negotiate all the maintenance that you listed above as part of the sale if she chooses to get the 2nd Gen. 2015's have the updated rear springs already (or at least it should). Make sure the 4x4 hi/low engages and if the off road model, that the locker does too!

You might want to grab it before the other guy realizes he made a big mistake getting rid of his 2G and tries to come back for it. I love mine.

2012 - 2015 I believe are some of the best built Tacoma’s. Though I never had an issue with my 2002 either.

They just looked at it. Dealer going to do brakes, tires and replace a tail light lens. It still needs detailing but seems in good shape.

15 seems to a good year.
I’d probably buy it if the price were right.
    I think you will fine.
You could always ask to have an independent shop look at it?
I personally wouldn’t worry much about it.

Depends on price. 13,14,&15 are desirable years. Expect to pay accordingly, condition/mileage considered.

Luv my 13. Bought new now 100k nothing but fluid changes, a set of tires, spark plugs, wipers & front brakes. Normal maintenance no tsbs or complaints. I did have a local spring shop redo my rear leafs at 75k.

A 2015 should be just as good! Hope it works out for her.

‘13-15 is the most sought after 2nd gen. I say buy it! But it depends on how much.. I’m sure the dealer is going to demand big $$$$. Good luck.

I thought I heard 24k OTD. It's got the OffRoad pkg. Rear locker, Nav, etc. etc.

WOW she stole that truck. Blue Book is more than that. Did you ever look at the Carfax. Make sure it has never been wrecked or flooded. It almost sounds to good to be true. Ok I had to Edit my post. Just looked it up and it was more like 22K Blue book but still if everything checks out I would get it.

    Why?

None of that needs to be done on that truck at that mileage.

The fact they are offering to do those for free is highly concerning to me. Like the previous owner towed excessively a fried their brakes and transmission oil.

If shes paying for it I recommend she take the truck as far away from a dealer to get service as she can. Toyota will rob her on those services.

Don’t touch the brakes until they need to be done.

That's crazy. I was just at the local dealership getting some stuff and I know a few of the guys there and the used car manager knows my truck and offered me $25K for mine. That's a super good deal she is getting. Btw, I would never trade my 2nd Gen for a 3rd.

I think they got that in with the deal. I wouldn't get all that at the dealership if it was out of pocket.
