So last year I decided to start on a project that I've been wanting to do for some time now. I wanted to build a truck that was capable of taking me on the many adventures I love going on. I decided the Tacoma was the best platform so in early 2015 I purchased a brand spanking new Base V6 4x4 four door Tacoma and dove into the upgrading process. Here is my trucks progress so far. Ask away if you have any questions or comments about the build process or the parts I used.

[IMG]The first real upgrade i did was the K&N intake but pretty much everyone does that so i wont focus on it. After that I put on the ICON stage 3 kit on.

    [IMG][IMG]
I replaced the stock rims and tires with the TRD bronze rims wrapped in good ole' BFgoodrich AT's.

I decided to ditch the ICON kit and go with Total Chaos long travel in the front. I went with the 3.5in control arms and king 2 tube bypass shocks.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
Got a wider stance in the front now. At the time of the picture i was waiting for my glass to be shipped out.
Finally got my glass in from Glassworks unlimited

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Took her out to kaena point for a little break in

What's going on out back? The front is approved.

Be honest, how is the ride difference between the new setup and the old?

Well first of all. The ride is a lot different. On the road it is a lot stiffer. Horrible for little bumps in the road. There is no more sway bar so corners are fun. It's more of a desert set up. It handles best in the big whoops. It takes in big ruts the best. As for the rear; Right now I only have a different leaf pack (lighter load rating ). And new struts from icon.

I have a long travel spring under kit waiting to go on once I move back to Cali. also I will be relocating the shock mounts either through the bed or on the side like the pelferybilt Shock relocation kit.

I threw in 1.5 in spacers in the rear just to even it up a little more. They are holding up fine .

Are those the same Icons from your "mid-travel" setup? I've been contemplating the TC kit, but don't want to have to buy another set of coilovers since my extended travel Icons are still like new. I was t sure if they'd swap over onto a LT set of arms like yours?

You won't get the full use of the LT kit with the extended travel icons. I'm waiting on my kings to be built . I have the limit straps tightened down to pervent damage to my icons . LT is the way to go man

Gotcha. You're using them currently, but upgrading to 8" Kings? I'm sure I could get a decent price for my Icons given their condition, but didn't want to have to buy new ones. Thanks for the info.

Yeah its pricy it was about 2100 bucks for the pair . I plan on keeping my icons for when I need to send the kings in to be serviced

Got my pallet of goods from Pelfreybilt.
Everything installed. It looks much better now that I got rid of the stupid stock bumpers :)
Fabbed some mounts for my rock lights. If you haven't checked out digidiodes I highly recommend them for lighting applications.
Now just to rig the lights in foreward of the front wheels and behind the rears!

    Tacoma > Colorado
Trophylander looking beastly while installing a lift on my friends truck

    image6.jpg

Just a few of the patches I've collected over the years.

    image4.jpg
Decided to install the Total Chaos Bump stop mounts with the King Bumps. Definitely need to do the Spring Under Conversion to gain a little more space between the axle and my bumps.

    image2.jpg
Soooooo, I was not in the market for a shell just yet but..... when you find baller deals on Craigslist and the shell is in great condition why not!!!

    image1.jpg
Washed the Trophylander! Definitely had too much fun with the foam gun at the car wash.
