I'll be down there. I'm with BFG pits out of San Felipe. Look for my silver LT Taco lighting you up at night and on the radio as you race by!

It's looking like I'll be in the truck between El Rosario and Cocos Corner or Puertecitos.

    Hang in there!
I made friends with a pit team at Nuevo Jcn. for the 1978 Baja Score race (The Internacional, as it was called before they could use '500' again)... After that, I became one of their pit captains for Baja 500, Parker 400, and Baja 1000 races.
In a year, I was invited to be a co-driver for the Baja 1000!
    Here I was pre-running in November 1979...

Those were fun times... getting to talk to the motorsports heroes of the time was great too... Walker Evans, Roger Mears, Mickey Thompson... all very nice people!
Here is a photo I took of Parnelli Jones when he drove up onto his trailer after "warming up" his tires the day before the 1973 Baja 1000... His Big Oly Bronco was indeed the world's first 'Trophy Truck' in concept! He had overall wins in it at the 1970 & 1973 Baja 500 and the 1971 & 1972 1000.

well it looks like my leg of the race has changed slightly. I'll be in the truck starting at Erendira and getting out at El Rosario. Should be a great stretch all along the coastline. Too bad it will probably be dark the whole time. ;P

I prefer night racing... you can judge the road better (darker shadow=deeper hole) and you can focus on just the road thanks to the blazing HID and LED lighting now!

I saw you guys go by on Saturday afternoon by Pit 5 of BFG. That's a pretty sweet truck you got. I didn't get a solid look because we had someone in the pit.

Right on. We had a good race going but the truck ran out of fuel at RM420 and it took a couple hours for chase crew to get to the truck. We had a 2 hr lead in our class at that point so it was a bummer to lose that lead. We ended up having throttle body problems around RM650 from the silt that sent the computer into limp mode and we didn't make it to checkpoint 6 in time so we DNF'd. Not the result we hoped for but still an incredible experience.

We heard it was brutal! I was pretty stoked to see you guys go by even though I was on hour 32 of no sleep and covered in dust.
