Double cab long beds are considered too long a chassis for "off-roading ".. at least until 3rd gen

But those lockers would be handy in snow as well!

My 2015 is bullet proof. I'm glad I bought one of the last ones sold in Canada. Great truck, the best I've ever owned.

Yes they are helpful in the snow.. I did like having the locker but I do a lot of commuting and the long wheelbase is definitely better on the highway

I hear ya...There's also some other subtle things from my OR I miss like the more nuanced window and lock buttons, repaired (with insulation tape) center cup holder divider with the wings that snap out, leather shift knob, bed outlet...The last two will be staying with my '15.

I know this is 2nd gen area. I'm a first time tacoma owner with a 17. It has its issues but they will get worked out. I love my truck but also think there are some badass 2nd gens out there. Love the look of the 2nd gen. Almost bought a 15 on the lot but was almost same price as 17 so i went with new.

I have the sport so no crawl mode. I've read that most people who have it never use it other than to test it out.

Shoot, I have had my truck for less than 2 months and haven't had to use the 4wd. Aunt on the beach the other week and put it in H4, but really didn't need to. Could've gone through that sand in H2 i am sure

Don't get me wrong, I am satisfied with the ease of the auto, and the comfort of the longer chassis but that OR was kind of "The one that got away" so to speak.. pretty rare from what I've read. Access cab, manual, smoked headlights, all the Trac options, seats I've never seen since.. The combo of electro boost brakes and no air injection gave the engine bay a "tucked" appearance! The only thing on the passenger side fender well was the intake tube and the driver's side inner fender had a fuse box and battery. Everything else was between the frame rails.. very uncluttered..

Yes, That is what a truck does for a good reason. It isn't a luxury car or even a car.

I feel the 13-15 Tacomas look the best IMO.

The 2nd gen trd sport only ! ! has a 8.4 rear axle , much stronger than 8.0 with locker in the trd off road . Dumb salees people don't know it ! Read it in an article about aftermarket locking differentials and it said if you tow or load substantial weight with your Tacoma definitely go with the trd sport with the hood scoop , better fabric ,17 wheels and stronger axle . So much for the sport being only cosmetic and if you look at the code stickers on the pumpkin it is true ! BTW. Epoxy prime , then chassis paint your frames when new or almost new not fluid film !

I bought my '14 because 1. I love the looks and 2. It's near the end of the era of the 2nd gens so i *assume* most of the bugs have been worked out. But mainly I knew i wanted a Tacoma and with the amount of miles i wanted it pretty much left 13'-15's.
