How are the 255's doing? I'm having some second thoughts again about going to that size from my 265's.

Doc, welp my Taco is still at Northway Toyota getting its new transmission so wouldn't have seen it haha.

Sna, so far so good. Have over 6,000 miles on them, including a trip to Michigan. The Coopers do have some speed howls so like you hear them more at 40-45 then 65-70 weird I don't get it but still it's not to bad. The 255 likes to grab any little dip in the road I feel like. So it will easily drop into ruts and have to turn to correct a lot. I do like the height proportions in the fender wells though. Really does look great and is the cats meow. When you look on it from the front I wish they just had a hair more width for looks but it doesn't look like I'm riding on bicycle tires since the Coopers help with that mean stance. Fuel economy wise I'm averaging 18-19mpg with mixed driving. I got just over 21mpg on the highway a few times. Towing isn't to bad. It still has plenty of get up and go to chirp the 33s and also tow my kubota. There is some noticeable power loss since on a hill for my commute I can't grab fourth where I used to. I have always said if they had a 32.5-33 inch tire with a 265 width I'd buy that in a heart beat. I'm not looking forward to the bill having to replace these that's for sure. So I might switch back to a 265/70 or a 255/75 just because of tire cost. But if someone gave me my choice of free tires I'd choice this size again

Bahhh....I guess my biggest thing is that I don't "need" that size of a tire and am worried that once I get my rig all setup for camping etc that it will weigh a lot more and having taller tires won't be the best for hauling all of that around. I also (since my second alignment after I dropped from 4th to 2nd notch on 6112s) have a slight mudflap rub on my front passenger side when the wheel is turned and I hit a bump. I don't want to have my tires rub anywhere if I go with 255's (on TRD pro wheels) and am shying away because I don't want to buy them and then not be able to adjust the alignment enough so they don't rub.

    haha no worries man

I'm doing the debate of picking up some new Blizaks in 265/70R17 for the winter... One is just to have designated snows and the other is it will sit a little lower for the Mrs... but I have heard these are pretty awesome in the snow, if we are to believe the farmers almanac this winter is gonna be a full on snow filled one so that's why I'm leaning for a set of snow tires.

No I get where you are going with this. Theres a guy on here that ran 255/85R16s on stock offroad wheels and on stock suspension. Apparently it is doable. Did you drop height in the rear or just the front? so how level is it sitting right now? And also did you get an alignment after lowering it? Going from 4th to 2nd notch is enough to throw off the alignment to cause rubbing and weird tire location.
So I do have the Dakars and the Timbrin bumps in the rear. So it takes like 600 pounds for it to sit on the bumps now, even when towing a B2920 Kubota with a bucket and a bed full of lawn tools I will only have a slight nose high situation. So I would imagine in the rear i'll never rub. Being the 6spd manual that low 1st gear does help a lot to get things moving. Reverse is little tricky with a trailer and such so I usually drop in 4low when I can to make reverse and trailer little easier.

End of the day guess it comes down to what you are trying to accomplish, my only negative is the cost of these tires. To replace them is gonna suck. But for me they fit everything else.

Just dropped the front.....had an alignment right after the suspension install (4th notch) and then after I dropped it to the 2nd notch. The other issues are cost and availability in that size. The 265's are much more available too.

I need to break out the snow board... its been staring at me these last few years unused. Got the snowmobile out last year though which was nice.. she had a 3 year hibernation so the old MXZ was little temperamental. Got it running great till my brother took out a tree with it. Something about those old 90s sled is they can take out a willow tree with only some plastic dents. But that just solidified its now just a field sled.

I've run the Blizaks on my old jetta, my dads 3 Lincoln LSs, and also on all of his Benzs. Things are unstoppable. Wear quick but we usually get 3 winters out of them

Lots of options for 265 and also lots of inexpensive options. I would say look at 255/75R17 if you are doing the TRD Sema rims. These are the Jeep Wrangler stock size so there's a decent amount of options and also are a hair higher then the 265/70R17 (265/75R16) variation.

Yeah I don't F*(*ing know what I should do. Or maybe I'll just stick with my original plan so go with 255/85's on the 1st gen 16" TRD swept star wheels I already have....OR put 265/75's on those same wheels.
