While I agree with you, the reality is...back in the 1950's Toyotas in America were considered a joke by most people. Cheap, small, fragile and were often unreliable. 20 years ago Hyundais were a joke. So you never know what the future holds.

From my experiences recently, they're still junk.

Both the rusted leafs and rusted frames are made in Mexico. If the parts were made in China, corrosion resistance might actually improve, since they can get away with more toxic coating processes there...

Surprisingly enough my Lexus IS-F Sport shift knob is made in China, and this is sold by Lexus dealers as an upgrade.

If a Chinese automaker sells a 1st-gen or pre-Taco pickup lookalike in the US, half the people on TW would lose their shit.

One can never have too many light bars.
I saw that one it was hilarious. Those range rovers look super legit from the outside but when they popped the hood it had some piece of shit motor and the electronics and suspension were primitive. But hey if all you're looking for is status all you would need to do is change the badges and you're good to go until it breaks down. Which I assume will be rather common.

Ah Mikes Twin, i heard they had listen to Mike that drums are excellent off road and their truck will now be upgraded to drums on the front and rear.
Also they follow Mikes advice and now making frame from Bamboo to make it ultimate flex.
The only thing that Chinese truck has from Tacoma is seatbelt bracket.

Great Wall motors probably looked at all the Chinese aftermarket parts currently made for the Hilux and decided to cobble together a vehicle using them...

Alas, the Great Wall Deer is no longer in production. Instead it's been replaced by a 1st-gen Colorado clone with a Golf front end.

Wow that is sad when Chineese ripoff truck has better interior than Toyota truck. Look at that dashboard. Simple no Kia Soul references.

^That dashboard doesn't look good up close. Have you ever driven a 1st-gen Colorado?

Drove one years ago when looking at Rangers and Tacoma's back when I was 19ish. I didn't like the dashboard at all. I ride in one every once in a while when I referee hockey because another official owns one. Brutal.

Meanwhile another Chinese ripoff truck has a 2.8L Cummins diesel. :p It's been on sale in Australia for two years now.

Yeah, the real wood trim in the Tacoma is nicer.
