I have coolant leaking from somewhere on the engine. A family member noticed where I was parked was a wet puddle in the grass. Pulled off the highway to look underneath and coolant had been spraying everything from the fan blowing it. I had the local Chevy dealer in town put it on a rack to see if they could find the source. Hard to tell but it looked the worst around a clamp on a lower hose. The main reservoir was low as well as the level in the radiator. Dipstick looks good, temp has stayed normal. I am topping it with distilled water until my appointment at the dealer Monday. I'm still under the 36k bumper to bumper warranty.

I'd be pretty pissed. Will it be fine with the water you think? I know they strictly use the pink stuff. It's most likely a bad hose or clamp. I wouldn't drive it at all until they fix it

Sounds like you are doing the right thing by scheduling it in at the Dealer for warranty repairs.

Distilled water would be safer than other brands of coolant.

Well, you can't exactly run to the store and buy that stuff. No Toyota dealer in town. Plus, I made sure the tech I had on the phone was "advising" me to use the distilled water.

You do not need dealer coolant. This works as well and is cheaper + widely available. The color is so close no one in a dealership would notice.

My money says your coolant loss problem did not happen on it's own.

If that's your bet, I would not bet against you. Dealer-inflicted wound.

yup. Buddies dealer installed supercharger had 2 visits post install for random mis-installed issues.... 40k mi later i was under his hood and took a look in the reservoir for the innercooler.... and there had ever been coolant added nor had the fuse ever been put in the supercharger pump, i proceeded to smack my buddy as he should of known better n checked his truck WAY before that.

Dont trust the dealer as far as you can throw the truck.

That stated, Take it to the dealer and make them fix it and fully document everything and go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Service guys always looked at me with disgust when i brought out the torque wrench and checked every lug n bolt they touched on my truck for the driveline vibe tsb... had the head guy come over and ask "what do you not trust our work".... "nope, cus i have found 3 lugs and leaf spring hangers that have all been way under torqued"

The coolant for the supercharger is self-contained. I suspect that it came from the main system because the reservoir level was all the way at the bottom.

Were/are you able to verify if it's coming from the motor radiator or supercharger radiator

Ok, here's the scoop. Apparently when the supercharger was being installed, the fan ended up too close to one of the radiator hoses. With every rotation, it was rubbing a flat spot in the hose until it wore completely through and started leaking.

They sent me off in a Corolla. I assume it will be covered under warranty. Hopefully it will be wrapped up by the end of the week.
