    Hello everybody,

So I have recently purchased a 2015 Tacoma DCLB TRD. I figured I'd post my own personal review after putting about 5000 miles on it.
I was also looking at getting a 2015 mustang gt with the track pack, camaro ss, wrx, focus st, silverado/sierra, FJ, tundra, 4runner....so essentially I was in between a truck and a ticket dispenser. After coming to the realization that my insurance would be through the roof. I decided to get a truck, I always loved the Taco’s, but once I started looking around and seeing that I could get a fullsize for a few grand more, the Tundra became slightly more appealing. I looked at full size trucks and other midsize trucks (GM minitwins=pos if you ask me), but for some reason every time I saw a Tacoma on the road I kept staring at it. So I started my search and arguments with multiple dealers to get a good deal and I ended up finding the exact one I wanted.

Dealership experience:Bought it at Price Toyota in Delaware. Got about $3800 off the MSRP.(End of the model/generation run)Good price, incompetent salesman, what else is new.

Engine: Powerband is nice. Its Loud, ticky, torquey, trucky, and awesome. No complaints, great motor.

Transmission:This is where I was pleasantly surprised. I was originally looking for a manual Tacoma v6 until I found out that I couldn’t get the DCLB in a manual. (Toyota fix that please) I wanted a manual but I needed a long bed for my activities. The 5speed is an awesome transmission. It shifts with certainty, its smooth and tight, and has perfect gearing in my opinion. My only gripe is that it is pretty whiney when cold. Much better than my shitty CVT in my old car. Honestly the worst thing to come to cars. Even worse than those automatic seatbelts from the 80’s.

Ride:Not as good as a Silverado or a tundra, but who cares, It rides very solid. Somehow little bumps become big bumps and potholes become road cracks. Whatever Tacoma, you came with yellow shocks, you can ride how you please.

Space:About the equivalent space inside as a midsize sedan. If you have kids, and they’re grown, I’d suggest a full size.

Bed:It’s a 6 foot bed with an outlet and two storage compartments. The bed rails are a great feature. Oh and the inverter is going to be sweet for tailgating.

Tailgate:Gate is solid as all hell. No shocks and no lock. Im kinda annoyed about not having a lock, but that’s a $70 fix.

Tires:Dunlop at20- Soft tire and nice ride. Otherwise crappy in my opinion. They slide a lot in wet and dry (hard braking). BFG ko2’s next.

Brakes:Good feel, just like a sedan. Braking distance not so much.

Seats: Well the seat material is nice and it doesn’t make you sweat. The cushions are a little firm and the seat bottom is a little low for me so long drives take a little bit of moving around. Im 6’3”. Storage behind and under the rear seats is great. Wish they came in black.

Steering: I think the feel is perfect for this truck. It’s not loose and floppy like most trucks. It is tight and has good road feel. Steering wheel is nicely designed.

Entune: Software layout is pretty good. Speakers in the truck aren’t the best. The usb and Bluetooth is a nice feature. The appsuite for weather works like 20% of the time for me but it might just be my area.

MPG:17.5-18.5 depending on the season (60% highway) Really doesnt matter how aggressive I drive it.

    Overall Build Quality:
The interior is very solid and I feel like with will last a long time without issues. The exterior panels are very solid also. My only gripe is the paint is kind of weak in the sense that it scratches easily and there is orange peel around the fenders. Also mine came with a dent from the factory.(All the others at the dealer had the same issue. Maybe durability testing lol) The window trim could have also been done a little better.

Overall ownership so far: I could not be happier with my decision. It has its issues for sure, but every single time I drive it I’m happy. I hope to keep this truck for a long time until she rots into dust just like her ancestors. My next truck will definitely be a Tacoma.(hopefully DCLB manual……..Toyota make one,ill pay full price this time) Would recommend this truck to anyone!

Nice review. Have about 6k miles on my 2015 DCLB and have similar thoughts as you. Are you dealing with any wind noise due to the poor door/window seals? That's my only gripe. Oh and mine was dented (on the roof) also. Mine popped out from punching it out from inside the cab.

Yea I have road noise on the highway, but it doesn't sound as if there is a bad seal though. Its just the lack of insulation I think. I wish I had a solution, but I end up just turning on the radio. Nice Fix, wish mine was that easy.

If the "orange peel" you are referring to is down on the rocker panels, it is purposely done that way, Toyota calls it rock protection or some such, supposedly a stronger area of paint resistant to chipping.

That I figured, I noticed a lot of new cars coming that way from the factory.I was talking about the paint on the fenders. There is a noticeable difference in sheen and texture between my fenders and quarter panel. Whatever, all new water based paint sucks nowadays.

Well said. I too have a 15 dclb with 5k and my thoughts pretty much mirror yours. Overall great trucks with a few quirks.

Texture is different cause the fender flares are plastic and the truck body is metal. Gives the flares that grainy texture

Love mine and I really wish the interior was black that being said that's probably the only positive thing I will say about the 2016 is that it has black interior , but nothing that a black set of wet okoles can't fix

image.jpg Not bad for 30 bucks. The only thing to keep in mind is that the rear seat cover is one piece so if you use the storage a lot, you're going to hate opening both sides at one time. Oh and this is after 3 months.

    Nice.

But how long have you had it? The dealerships in my area haven't had any '15's in months.
