hey guys, I have a 2015 DCSB V6 auto 4wd that has a weird rattling or thumping from the passenger side while driving over super choppy roads/pot holes. It is difficult to pinpoint as it only does it on very rough portions of road, otherwise the truck is quiet (aside from the kazoo in crosswinds).

It sounds similar as though a door was left partially open and it was rattling back and forth, or as though the exhaust is banging in to the floor. I have checked the exhaust multiple times and it is very tight, and the doors are all closed. Just for reference the receiver hitch when it is in makes an entirely different noise and the noise is still there when the receiver is out.

Do you guys have any thoughts as to what this could be? I'm hoping you can give me something to look at first as I've tried to recreate this noise and without the super rough road it is impossible. I'd like to have some idea before I take it to the dealer as they will most likely need me to recreate the noise.

    Thank you in advance.

I just noticed a noise the other day going over a bump. I think it is coming from the fender flare. I gave the flare a thump with my hand and it made a hollow rattle sound. I'll have the dealer check it out at the next free oil change.

Did you empty all your behind-seat and in-bed bins first to make sure your own junk isn't fooling you?

I like where your head is at, unfortunately everything is removed from the truck already.... However the stock jack handle/tool kit isn't secured that firmly. I'm wondering if that could be it? I'll pull it out and drive with it up front with me and see if that changes anything.

I've noticed when I hit bumps in my 2015 and no one is sitting in the passenger seat, the seat itself rattles back and forth, its weird but maybe that could be the same issue.

The male part of the rear seatbelt can rattle against the plastic if the belt isn't slid into the keeper. I think. Seems I had the same thing happen a few years ago but need to go out to the garage to make sure there is even a clip. Maybe I'm just remembering something that never happened. :)

Yep mine vibrates as well, but there is no sound associated to it.

This is another annoying sound, but distinctly different that what I am describing. Thanks for the idea though.

I have noticed more little squeaks in my 15 with 10,000 miles then any other vehcile I've owned. Passenger window, seatbelt, rear leaf spring, passenger seat. My 04 had almost 130,000 on it and nowhere near as many little noises. Nothing major and I like the truck but damn!!

My passenger side seat in my 013 TRD OR rattles constantly unless someone is setting in it.

5100's all around with OME 884 at 0. Weathertechs, Carhartt seat covers. BFG KO2's 265/70/17. T4R SEMA wheels. 18% tint on front windows. General Springs HD 4 leaf pack, Leer 100 XR shell.
I shoved some hard drive foam between the seat and center consol and it stopped it. had a folded up hand towel in there and it did the same job.

I had the same problem (same year and model). For me it was the pass. side bed bolt nearest the cabin. Try placing your left hand on the bolt (inside bed) and shaking the bed with your right hand. Mine would move about 1/16". I had to put an impact wrench (or air wrench) on it with a T-55 socket to tighten. No more noise.

Same thing happens to mine. I think the bolts that connect the backrest to the seat bottom just need to be tightened.

I have the same issue on my 07. When I hit a a large pot hole it makes a loud hollow sounding thud/rattling. I finally figured out that my front fender flares rattled when hit hard enough. It drives me less crazy now that I know it is nothing major.
