    I think this shows the car was running at maximum potential. Button is not slow, but they are both able to get all of what the car is capable of at the moment. When the car gets faster then we will see.

    For me I don't have a problem with Rosberg, I'm just not a fan. He is a good driver but I don't like his attitude. That's my only gripe with him. He finished second and should be happy with that, compared to Verstappen who DNF'd and lost on points because of mechanical failure. For a young kid he showed more maturity in the face of adversity. Even if it's for the camera I think Rosberg could carry himself a little better.

    So what happens exactly to the team if Renault leaves or Redbull leaves. Is that it for the drivers too? Is this actually going to happen?

    I don't know the rules inside out but I know that coaching and relaying other car's split times is no longer allowed. I'm not sure how the pit would be able to give Hamilton enough information under those rules so that he would know how far back Vettel was behind Rosberg. (Maybe he could pick it up on scoreboards etc.) At any rate I agree with him that it is not his job to manage Nico's race. And Mercedes protected the team position when needed, by having Lewis up the pace.

    And it was clear that he had pace to spare. Evidence those "in laps" on the first set of tires; when they told him to go, his lap times dropped a full second. Early in the race I told my wife, "he looks like he's driving just fast enough to win", and that's what he was doing. That is solid strategy.

    I think that Lewis is in Nico's head, and it is not really about the cars, or ability; Nico needs to work out how to deal better with the mental pressure to beat Lewis. The more he acts out in public, with self denegrating comments about himself or the team, the harder it will be for him to win the mental side of this tussle....

    Mercedes asked Hamilton to hit a specific lap time delta which was .4 seconds or so faster than he had been lapping after he slowed

    Looks like the Rosberg and Hamilton rivalry is heating up! Should be a good season hopefully.
    Liked the Mercedes one two and Ferrari in 3rd and 4th. Shows Ferrari is making good improvements and hopefully going to be putting more and more pressure on Mercedes.

    Run a lower rev limiter on the combustion engine and or limit the ERS portion would be my guess

    They were running detuned to ensure reliability for race distance and because of the current 4 engine component limit

    Turbo boost, engine/valvetrain timing, on a power unit like these the list of ways to modulate power output is probably pretty long.

    Honda suffered a major failure of their MGU-K system through winter testing that requires a redesign of the system , I would presume the " new spec " Barcelona power unit has a newly designed MGU-K set up , if they have been running with limited or no ERS power then that alone would put them 160bhp down on the rest

    All teams use different engine maps throughout the race

    For McLaren~Honda , right now , making it to the checkered flag without blowing up is a step forward

    To your point , the Red Bulls and Toro Rosso teams will be taking large penalties soon , especially given that Ricciardo is on engine 3 of his 4 engine season allotment

    He complained about a hot seat throughout the weekend

    The battery for the ERS system is in close proximity to the seat and during the race broadcast BBC was suggesting that was most likely the culprit
