An all ex F1 drivers team is what's going to happen over at Porsche. With Hulk returning for Le Mans maybe. I wonder if Jeff Gordan when he retires is going to go do some real racing in WEC?

I'm just wondering why red bull would pull out it's 2 teams and lose all of those assets. It would make much more sense to sell the teams rather than park them. How would it make financial sense to idle hundreds of millions of dollars worth of equipment and marketing value and take a total loss on those assets? Truthfully I think they are posturing to get what they want, but they have really painted themselves into a corner unless there is a lot more to the story we don't know.
I mean really, it would make a lot more sense for Renault to buy out Red Bull than Lotus. I'm sure it would be a lot higher expense but both sides would benefit more if Red Bull really wants out.

I don't know about you guys, but only seeing 3 possible power unit manufactures and maybe 2 being competitive isn't appealing to me as a fan. They are dangerously close to becoming a spec series. I think something needs done with the rules to promote more interest from the power unit side.

 

I had to look up pram. It has a distinctly euro vibe to it. Also could be a car part. As in "you need to get your pram alignment checked."

But with vw's looming epa fines I don't see that happening. It's highly unlikely there could be a deal done in time for development before next season

 

Yeah, considering they could be subject to an $18bn fine in the US ALONE (worst case scenario), I think they might be tightening the belt in the very near future.

 

I think there should be a death match between the CEO's. Good chance for the VW CEO to get some cage experience, since the current guy is about to get the axe.

 

I kinda feel like RB had no other choice, especially given all the rhetoric they generated throughout the season. When you trash a supplier that much over the course of a few months, the relationship is so poisoned that they probably felt that they would rather take their chances (and rely on the charity of the F1/FIA) with no supplier nailed down and hope for the best, or they miscalculated other teams' parent companies willingness to supply them with PU's.

VW would only be entering to become an engine manufacturer by way of a works team

 

I bet they'd do well with hybrids. More complexity, more software, more places to hack emissions results. With their coding talents VAG should be able to double what Toyota gets from a Prius.

 

I think so too, but who would supply them? I doubt mercedes, we don't want or need another ferrari team. Renault said they are are only going to supply their team if the deal gets done. I think Honda will get it together eventually.

 

New leadership, possibly new priorities. Possible change in F1 plans (if there were any to begin with...)?
