I bought my 2014 Tacoma new in New York. It spent 4 years there. Now I'm Florida. My frame is in excellent condition. I was very pro active in hosing down the underside soon as it got above freezing. Plus I'm retired so I didn't have to drive it much. I just got the letter from Toyota today. I won't be bringing it back for the frame inspection. I would only have 6 years of warranty anyway and in my experience those coatings are a only good for a few years and then they actually promote rust. And I don't want those jerk offs touching my truck anyway.

All rubberized undercoating does is trap water and moisture , you really need a coating like Por-15 first . Shame the previous owner did not hose down the underside . I usually use a extended gardening hose wand like the one you get at Lowes , they work great .
This truck has a intended purpose , I will still keep its washed down after snow and salt events , this is my beater truck ... the Easter Lamb

Took our 2006 taco in for the frame recall in 2015 and of course it only needed an undercoating. I was told that having it done gave me a total of 15 yrs warranty (2021) from in service date at that time. Fast forward to Feb 2020, my muffler guy tells me I have a hole in the front end. I go to the dealership and they tell me the campaign has been done since 2018 and I'm shit outta luck. The GM said that Chevys wouldn't still be on the road so I should be happy I had a truck as long as I did. I was so furious that I just went and got it patched rather than fight them over $150. Unfortunately, now only 9mths later and basically just sitting in my driveway during quarantine, the frame is completely rusted out around the motor mount and undrivable. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WITH ONLY THE UNDERCOATING!!! Once it flakes off, the frame disintegrates. I'm sick and tired of being brushed off and lied to. Toyota canada will be getting an earful. I suggest we Canadians band together and contact CBC Marketplace and expose their unethical business practices. I feel swindled

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I purchased a 2015 about 4 months back now, I crawled under the truck and could see there were slots in the c channel of the frame that were beginning to rust. Nothing crazy, and the rest of the frame is okay. I live in NJ if that helps. I’ll probably POR15 it myself.

What I was wondering is would something like this show up on a carfax so I can tell if it was CRC coated or not? It’s not on the one I got. No open recalls. There looks to be a little overspray on the frame sticker though. If they did that’s some garbage they used and I’m almost halfway concerned they did a poor job at wiring wheeling and coating.

Mine did come with a 100k powertrain warranty and I opted for the extended comprehensive for 5 years/132k miles.
