I'll try one thing at a time, after a couple fuel ups.

There's a chance you still have the original spark plugs. If so they are due for a change every 30,000 that could help if you changed them out. Also don't use cruise control of your driving on un level ground. 15 mpg stock mixed driving isn't verry good.. But like others said give it a few more tanks. Fill up till it clicks off and stop. And non ethanol fuel if you can find it will increase mileage 1+ mpg. At least it does for me. My truck when stock averaged about 18, 20+ on highway drives. That's with a MT..

I don't get any better mileage if i lug around or baby it getting up to highway speed. Within reason..

    My 2 cents..

OP stated truck has just over 10,000 miles. Why the spark plug comment?

Well it sounds like letting it do its thing for a couple tanks, then start with a cpu refresh...

    Thanks guys!

Not sure if it has been asked yet but how far is your daily commute? If it's only a short distance, your mileage isn't going to be great, being its cold and all and the engine needs to warm up. My non-commute mileage is usually pretty good based off my scan gauge but my weekly commuting kills the fuel economy. I do hand calc at each fill-up and usually average 18 mpg solid. Its not that cold here being its GA either lol. Worst day I've seen is like 25* lol.

I should include I don't "baby" my truck by any means. I'm a little more of the hot off the start and drive it like I stole it state of mind. My truck is also 100% stock, minus a few small exterior mods.

Not sure about areas outside of Texas but ethanol is in gas year round in DFW area. I notice more impact from cold weather on MPGs than fuel. If we get a week of warm weather when stations have winter blend my MPGs will go up. I have never run non-ethanol in Tacoma but have tried some 93 octane. I noticed no diff in MPGs with the 93.

Calculate your own couple fill ups before you freak out.

When I calculated off my first dealer fill up I got 17mpgs. When I did mine I'm getting 20-21 regularly. So someone didn't reset the trip meter right at fill up.

My commute is about 16 miles one way, half side roads half highway. I let her warm up in the driveway, I don't drive a cold engine...habit from my motorcycles.
I sure do miss the weather in GA!! I can't wait to move back!
I'm sure in a few weeks I won't be babying it...it still has the new feeling.

I have a stock Tacoma except with the oem roof rack and a tonneau cover. In 25-30 degree weather and pretty much only running around town I filled up today and calculated 14.9 mpg. Summer time I got 17.5-18.5....in moderate asshole driving conditions.

Oh and 5 min warm up in the AM when it's cold out.

    Winter blend sucks.

This sounds exactly like one of my first posts when I average the same as you. Seems pretty normal. Even though I see guys getting 18-21 mpg. Like they say, it is based on a lot of variables.

If it makes you feel any better I'm also getting about 14.5 MPG, but in the new "more efficient" 6spd 3.5L. Better than the 12-13 I got in my Tundra, sure. But it's all due to the low temps IMO.

I've hit 22 before going 45 MPH long distance with no stopping. But that's about it. It's about 17 highway too.

We hit 50º on Monday and it went back up to 18. Then into the 20º-30º's and it'll go right back to 14-15. Amazing how that works. I know in past years with snow and 4x4 on my Tundra could get all the way down into the 9's. Yet to test the taco in snow since we've only got .8" total this winter, where normally we would have had around a foot. 15" last winter. Still got till March though.

Warming up beyond 15 seconds is just wasting gas at 0 mpg with no benefit, how long do you idle?

I did about 500mi through the mountains over New Years with a bed full of gear and got 20.5mpg calculated on 85. Even had to use some 4hi. Do less driveway idling and that will probably help, just don't beat on a cold engine and you will be good to go.

If your letting it warm up till its up to temp and driving it 16 miles then yes you will probably get 15 mpg.. Something about burning fuel while your not moving crushes gas mileage lol

Use fuelly.com to track your mileage. Nice to keep it all in one place. I tracked my 2012 Sport AC (stock) for 90K miles and 247 fillups. Averge MPG was 22.3.
http://www.fuelly.com/car/toyota/tacoma/2012/sbussell/104410. Traded that for a 2015 Sport DCSB. Currently averaging 20.9 mpg and that is mostly
winter gas. That will improve when summer gas comes back. I drive between 90-100 miles a day with 40% back roads and 60% highway. Try to keep
speed under 70 on the highway. Decent MPG is possible in these trucks.
