I've tried the procedure for older Tacomas, but I'm trying to get my new truck into program mode since it didn't come with a keyfob.

Does anybody know if there's a variation of those instructions to program a 2015 model?

Thank you for your prompt reply, Pheerles, but I've tried that ten or more times now, and I can never get the power locks to cycle.

I've tried going ahead with the remote like I succeeded, but no joy.

Is it possible they skipped the radio receiver for the system in my truck?

Just got off the phone with the dealership.* Apparently, on later model Tacomas, keyless entry cannot be retrofit if the truck didn't ship with it.

Further, it seems keyless entry is mutually exclusive with stick - manual transmission is only available on base trim Tacomas.

Anyone worried about the 2016 model, there's a reason to look forward to third-generation Tacomas. :(

Anyone want to buy a keyfob?

*(Again. Last time I talked to them, they gave me a quote for a fob and programming of about $202 and said they could have it done the same day.)

I didn't know they offered vehicles without keyless entry. Mine is indeed a 2015 base trim manual and i assumed they all came with keyless entry standard if my truck had it.

Sorry to hear that, good luck.

That doesn't square with what the parts desk told me, or what the tech guys told me.

Does a 2015 TSS have key fob? Reason I ask is, dealer I bought the car from sold me a repoed Tacoma with no original keys and key fob. So if it does have it. Will I be able to order the fobs and program it on the TSS?

Have the dealer run your VIN to find out if you have keyless entry.

So I just had the key fobs done at the dealer by an outside locksmith. They programmed the fob doing the door ignition process. So you must have keyless entry prior to be able to do it yourself. If the truck does not come factory with the receiver it won't work.

I see the last post for this was awhile ago, but does anyone know if a fob for a 2017 Tacoma push button start can be programmed personally? My dealer is 200 miles away and I'd hate to be charged at a local dealership.

You may have better luck if you posted this question in the 3rd gen forum.

Wow! This forum is really helpful! I bought my first taco in august, a 2015 TRD Sport DCLB and got two key fobs with it. I didn't notice the wife's fob didn't work. I assumed that it was the battery so I replaced it. Low and behold...it still didn't work. So I researched reprogramming the fob and this thread popped up.

I followed the instructions on how to do it and at step 9 the locked cycled twice. Bummed. I tried it again and same result, cycled twice. A little voice told me, just try and hit the lock button...it worked. So if it cycled twice, it may be programmed.

Well I couldnt find the spare key yesterday. Spent hours looking for my key. So, the key is generic and can be cut without programming. It's just the keyfob that needs to be programmed right? It's $140 for a programmed key according to the dealer. I dont think that included the fob.

Last time I took her in for service, the Toyota master mechanic was there that day, and confirmed my truck doesn't even have the radio hardware necessary to talk to a keyfob. D:

Just tried this on my 2015 TRD OR, worked liked a charm and saved me at least $100 from what the dealership wanted to charge. Thank you!!!

Big Thanks to hoffengineering for posting!! The instructions in Post #17 worked for me in my 2015 DCSB Pro using this key/remote combination from Amazon: Amazon.com: Keymall Upgraded Key Fob Keyless Entry Remote Control for Toyota Sienna Tacoma Tundra FCC ID GQ43VT20T G Chip (Your Old Key Must has G Stamp) : Automotive I have yet to get the key cut to see if I need any further chip programing.

You will have to find someone to program the key. There is no DIY way to do it without some sort of computer. I have a 2013 and had to get it programmed outside of doing it myself. Key FOB’s are a different story for 2nd gen. Easy programming and cheap off Amazon.

    No problem bud!

As far as the key (or rather the immobilizer inside the key), that needs to be programmed as well. It's a little more in-depth (but not much) and requires some extra hardware/software. I detailed my search for a brick and mortar locksmith in my area that would be less than the dealership in this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/good-brick-and-mortar-locksmith-in-oc.697763/

In my search, I discovered this thread on programming the remote yourself: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-programmed-and-coded-for-2015-tacoma.690027/

Using this cable+included Techstream software: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B084H75MZ3

The programming process is pretty straightforward. I used Techstream version 14.30.023 (which was provided via a link by seller of the above cable). I successfully programmed two new "G" code keys to my truck (I believe yours is the same "G" key). I had the keys cut at the dealership, got them to cut both for $10.

That being said, the price of the cable was $40 when I bought it on Amazon. Looks like it went up to $60 back in April, so you might want to wait until it goes back down (but who knows if/when that will happen).
