I know this has been posted a million times but here it goes again. I have a 2015 4x4 trd Tacoma I am wanting to add a lift and wheels on. The truck is my commuter and on asphalt 90% of the time so this is mainly for asthetics. I would like to run 17's with a 285 tire. I would also like the truck to sit level. I'm not looking for a 6" lift but rather just enough to level. What does everyone recommend for available kits and will I need uca? Thanks and pictures are appreciated.

Don't think he's going to clear 285s with billys set at 1.5"

I've been looking at the 5100s and think that's what I will do. I know I'll more than likely not clear the 285. How about 275?

So a guy can get away with 275s with the Bilstein 5100s?

Yes but your ride, from what I understand, is going to be stiff because you are relying on preloading the shock to achieve your height. Much better to spend the extra $200 on OME 885 coils in the front and a custom AAL in the rear. You could go to a full leaf pack with a minimum lift but that would add another $300 or so.

If you're going to use the 5100 to lift the truck, yes.

If ALL you want to do is level your truck and nothing more, you can use Bilstein 5100s on the front and set them at 1.75", and keep the rear suspension completely stock. A few members have done this.

You would still need the Bilstein shocks.

    Here are your options:

    1) Bilstein 5100 struts on the front set at 1.75" and stock rear. This will level your truck but you might find the ride a little stiff because you're preloading the strut to achieve your height. You will clear the 275s.

    2) Bilstein 5100 struts front and rear to give you adjustability from stock height to 1.75" of lift, front and rear of course. If you want a level truck set the fronts to 1.75" and leave the rears at 0. You will clear 275s

    3) OME 885 Coils and Bilstein 5100 struts on the front. 5100 struts must be left at their factory setting when using them with the OME 885 coils. The 885 coils give you a min of 2.5" of lift so you would need to do an AAL in the rear. This is the setup I have on my truck and with a .5" AAL on the stock springs with the overload spring still in place, it sits level.

    4) Instead of OME 885 coils in option 3, use OME 884 coils for 2" of lift in the front instead of 2.5".

Here is my truck with option 3

    I'm running a 265/75/16 (32") tire.

Keep in mind if you run a level truck and you load up the bed with stuff, the ass end will sag and your headlights will be 'in the trees' so to speak. Even with my .5" AAL in the back I sag with my cap, camping gear, food for 4 and a hitch mounted bike rack with four bikes, two of which are adult full suspension bikes. I think I read that guys with a full leaf pack still sag, just not as much as a AAL bandaid.

I was thinking of putting air bags in eventually as well, because I will be using the box and and doing what a truck is meant to do. I had a 1500hd silverado but I don't need the big V8 anymore. And I knew that the taco is the way to go.

I've thought of air bags as well but I only load up the truck 3 or 4 times a year for camping so I'm not sure it's worth the expanse. My lift shop is going to take measurements with an empty box, then again with my cap on my truck, then again with my truck loaded with my camping gear, cap, and bike rack and bikes. From there we'll figure out exactly how much lift I need to be level when loaded up. Unfortunately this will give me back my rake but I'd rather have rake then sag.

It's a process especially when perfection is somewhat of an illusion.....

Looks awesome. What are your measurements from the ground to the bottom of your fenders front and back? Do you mind measuring it for us and letting us know?
