2015 Manual Transmission Failure

Purchased a 2015 SR5 4 cyl. 5-speed in April, and last week the transmission blew at 2AM while going 65 mph on the highway in 5th gear, with just 8,000 miles on the engine. Had only 4th gear to get home. In the morning I could not get into any gear, and had to have the truck towed to the dealership.

After 2 days Toyota service confirmed that it was not a clutch problem (which service had implied at the start) but rather a yet-to-be-determined transmission failure that they had not seen before. Gave me a Tundra as loaner, and said the Tacoma would be in the shop for two weeks since people at the regional office would want to see it before determining how best to repair it.

Any thoughts?

 

No truck is perfect, but this is an odd ball.

 

If it is going to fail, might as well be under warranty!

 

Speculation here , is therè anywhere in your new tŕuck documentation
that indicates the fluid in the transmission was checked beforè you drove off the
dealer lot ?
