    Never understood why USC went with 7-win Steve. The only thing he has going is his recruiting. He can't coach and couldn't do anything with the talent he had at UW. USC should've made Coach O the HC.

    It might not be weird logic, but it's mostly irrelevant. If you're hoping that a team you beat has beaten other good teams so that your team can look good, then you're team probably isn't that good in the first place.

    I won't say I never hope for a team I hate to win, but I sure as hell don't do it just so they can appear stronger when we beat them later. As a fan of a team that was beaten by Ole Miss, I'm in a position to have to want Ole Miss to lose two SEC games. They already crapped their pants at Florida, so just one more to go. That means I was pulling for the Gators last week, I will cheer for TAMU in two weeks, and will pull for (gulp) auburn on Halloween to beat them... all because an Ole Miss loss DIRECTLY affects the potential success of my team.

    Otherwise, I couldn't care less if auburn, La State, Florida or Tennessee lose every single game they play.

    NOT TO MENTION that your closest rivals are likely teams against which your coaching staff recruits every day. When I hear a bammer say that he hopes auburn is good because he wants the Iron Bowl to mean something, I just shake my head. I want recruits to look at one side of the state and see a mountain of crystal trophies and look at the other side and see an unpolished turd of a program tripping over its own untied shoelaces.
