    Hell of a ball game

A point about the onside kick...I'm not arguing the call whatsover...no sour grapes here

I believe Dabo was upset because we pulled that EXACT play out last year and it got called back because some BS about the receiving team has to have a shot at it or some such nonsense

I personally thought it was brilliant and totally caught us off guard tonite...heads up players would've signaled fair catch and that's that

I'm proud as hell to wear my tiger paws...Undefeated regular season, conference champs, Orange Bowl champs over #4 who many proclaimed the most complete team in the country, and went toe to toe down to the bitter end (call it a garbage time TD if you want...but it's the natty baby...you go 60 min) and Bama didn't cover the spread...

I wanted us to be competitive and make sure everyone understood we deserved to be there...we showed that tonite

A lot of special players on both sides of the field and an amazing game that just didn't bounce the right way for us to end an amazing year...

Time to hire a better special teams coach...

Still a very proud Clemson fan. Being in the natty with all those freshmen and sophomores means the best is yet to come. Great game by Bama who played a more complete game. Those two blown coverages and a perfectly executed onside kick is what did it this game. Clearly two of the best teams were there and it was exciting to watch. I sincerely believe that all the players left it all on the field. #AllIn

He didn't understand the rule, it seems. The play was perfectly legal.

Agree 100%. Hell of a game. It took some time off my life, for sure. Hats off to Clemson.

APPARENTLY the receiving team has to be allowed an opportunity to catch the ball on an onside kick that doesn't hit the ground, BUT only if there is a receiving player who has a reasonable chance to do so. The kick was place in such a way that no Clemson player had an obvious opportunity, so there was no need to give him space/a chance. I'm only relaying what I heard this morning on Mike & Mike from Herbstreit.

Hell of a game. Clemson is a hell of a team. I'm going to enjoy watching them tear auburn apart to start the season next year.

    and speaking of next season.......................

I know it was perfectly legal. That's what I was saying. There's never been anything about the receiving team having to have an opportunity. If you decide to kick it deep, if you have someone fast enough to run down to the 5 and catch it, the ball's yours.

It always surprises me when players/coaches don't know the obvious rules of the game. Just like OT rules in the NFL.

I'm far from an expert, but there apparently IS a rule that you have to give the receiving team an opportunity to catch the ball if they are able to do so, but only if the ball has not touched the ground. (That's why most onside kicks are bounced off the ground immediately.)

If Clemson had a player standing on the 50 (like, on the actual numbers) we would have failed at the kick. As it happened, there was nobody in the area so we were alright.

Just throwing this out there... every single one of Saban's recruiting classes at Alabama has won a national championship.
