The v6 motor has come a long way. There are some very impressive v6 motors in a lot of cars now a days. Even putting a v6 twin turbo in a truck stills gets 20+ mpg and can tow 10k lbs.

The Nissan GTR is a fast car I do agree, however at the test track in Birmingham, AL they pit a 2014 Camaro ZL1 Track Edition against the GTR and it won. And the Camaro ZL1 TE is less than half that price, and is sexier, in my opinion.

    Yeah, I was "being a bit sarcastic" ... but I do LOVE ... a V-8 ... something about them ... :D

Can you imagine a Z-28, GTO, Chevelle, 442 or Gran Sport with a V-6 and 10 turbos and winding that thing to 10k RPMs to get the HP to just squeak the tires on hot asphalt...

A buddy of mine had a F-150 with the V-6 with turbos and it got too hot and he traded it on 5.0.

Granted ... the small engines have come a long way .... but ...

But when I see a big Audi Sedan with a tiny turbo charged engine in it ... it reminds of those ads for ... "p*nis extenders" ...

Is that the camaro that doesn't have air conditioning? I may have seen that article. I don't think the camaro was racing a new GTR. I think it may have been a few years old, not that the GTR has changed at all.

I made an error there. It wasn't the Camaro ZL1, it was the Camaro Z-28, and it was pitted against a 2014 Nissan GTR Track Edition and a Porche.

By faster do you mean 0-60 or top speed? Was the Camaro AWD like the GTR?

I think he made an error.

It's hard to find a car to compare to the GT-R that is also in the same price range. Sure you could get a derpstang or vette and dump some money in to it and it would be insanely fast but I'd still pick a GT-R over any ford, chebby or dodge.

Um, the Dodge Viper ACR has held the 'Ring record over many more "haloed" exotics, and holds the production car lap record at 19 US tracks. If you like it better, fine - but don't try to say it's hard to find cars that can compare at that price.

The GT-R is a hell of a car that can be driven fast by nearly anyone, whereas I bet the Viper needs someone that knows what they're doing to get those fast laps. That's a big positive and a negative for the GT-R.

115K for a GT-R is ridiculous though, and they should have badged it as an Infinity from the start. I bet it's a big weird looking at a GT-R sitting in the same showroom as an Altima or a Murano LOL

GTR #4, ACR is #6. This is pretty much the standard track to test any car on.

it was faster around a track. 0-60, the GTR killed it, but the Camaro had a bit faster lap times.

Correct on both points. But for those capable of driving the Viper, it's a very rewarding and formidable car. And for non pro drivers - it's still quite a thrill. I think it's a shame some will knock it just for being a Dodge.

Fair enough, but the ACR is a '10 model (taken right off the showroom floor from Tomball Dodge) and set that time in '11 and it took two years to be beaten. The GTR turning that lap shows it being a '15 model year running the lap in '13. Is it a massaged pre production and truly representing what will be on dealers' floors? I'm not hating the GTR, it's a great car, but too many won't give it the credit it deserves because it's a Dodge. I'm hoping when/if Dodge takes the new Viper TA (Time Attack) or new ACR when built it can regain the record. Go 'Murica!

I think most people knock it in the same vein that the Vette and the Mustang get knocked - crap interior and solid rear axle respectively. With the viper, big engine but nothing much besides that.

Nothing much besides a big engine? Did you miss the part about the '09 Viper holding the 'Ring record for three years, or the '10 holding for two? Plus holding track records for a production car at 19 US race tracks? The car offers way more than just a big engine - though as I conceded to an above post - it requires a talented driver to get that out of it. Crap interior? Past generation cars were plain yes, but not crap in quality. The current cars - '13 and never - are gorgeous - using the same Sabeltt leather Ferrari uses. And the solid axle doesn't seem to be hindering it's performance. I haven't seen a new Mustang, but the new Vette is very nice inside.
