i need some advice, lol. i am tempted to trade in my 2012 for a 2015 dc offroad package auto. i am thinking about also just waiting on the 2016s to come out. the dealer wants to give me 20,500 for my trade in. do you think this is a fair value? They are rating the truck at very good. just about 36k miles and manual 6 speed access cab or (offroad package). i would hope my value in equity would not drop that much in the next few months or year, and still be in a good position to trade later. guess it all depends if you like the style of the 2016s.

Back in Feb i just bought a 2008 Tacoma Double Cab, Short bed, with the offroad package and all the bells n whistles on it. It had 27K on it, and they wanted $26808. I thought this was quite pricey. but i needed to get rid of my trade-in so i pulled the trigger. Anyway, I think you could get a little bit more for your 2012. i mean i was looking at 2005-2009 Tacomas in my area with more than 50k on them for around the 20,000-22,500 mark. It's my personal opinion that new model trucks always have a few kinks and bugs on them that need to be worked out before buying. I would say i wouldn't buy a new model until at least 2017-2018 comes out. That way, people will have had a chance to get in them, work out bugs/recalls, etc, and start customizing them. If you feel comfortable with the 2nd gens, then i say stick to them. 3rd gen mods aren't gonna start really coming out until late 2016-early 2017, and if you're in a hurry to mod it, then probably not a good idea to jump straight into a 3rd gen when they come out.
Food for thought, hope this helps!

wait for 2016 mpg / hp / torque / towing specs to be released then make a decision. Simple as that.

Is your AC a 4x4 and is the 2015 a TRD Off Road DCSB? If you AC is two wheel drive I think you would really like the 4x4.

You can probably get the trade in value of your current truck higher with some negotiating.
I believe shopping near the end of the month is to your advantage as often dealers are close to meeting their quota and more willing to deal.

Since the 2016 models are not available for test drives I can't give an informed opinion of them.
