Bought my first Tacoma yesterday and had the dealer help with pairing my iphone 5s with the truck's electronic doodads. We then tested it by making a voice activated call, we loaded all my contacts, played a few songs, all is well.

On the way home I call the wifey - you know, all giddy about the truck - and as soon as she answered her voice started fading to the point i could not hear here anymore. Now ever time I make a call with voice command or handheld via bluetooth, I hear a cracking sound when any audio tries to come thru the speakers. Not a cracking sound like a busted speaker, more like a clicking sound. Everything else works: songs thru my phone, phone book, shuffle, etc.

I tried resetting the bluetooth by deleting all my devices, I deleted the phone off the head unit, I reset my phones setting, network setting, etc.

Sorry to bomb the board with this issue of mine as a first post/thread on the forums, but does anyone know whats going on here?

    Thanks a ton!

    Charles

Just got a new Tacoma myself and I am also new to this forum. Congrats on your new truck! I had a similar issue, but not exact. I had to turn the volume all the way up on my iPhone to fix it. When you are on a call (when you are pulled over), look at the "audio" source on the phone. Make sure it's connected to the Tacoma and doesn't have an option to connect to other devices that may be on/available in your new truck.

Sure thing. I did some more research on it. I found this on Toyota's website. The short answer is - update or reset your iphone to the latest iOS version.
    • *If you updated to iOS 8.0 or newer, have iCloud turned on, and are using Bluetooth®, you might experience the following symptoms:
    • 1. Head unit displays No Service for cellular radio.
    • 2. Unable to initiate or answer calls when connected to Bluetooth®.
    • 3. Unable to hear sound clearly when youre on a call with Bluetooth®.
    • 4. Head unit displays an active call although there are no calls active on the iPhone.
    • To resolve these issues, please refer to the information on Apple's website here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht6473
My dealership is also an hour away so I'm left having to figure out most of this stuff myself, or on this forum. Good luck!

thanks again for the help. Tried everything, including calling apple. I've read where apple customer support wasn't so great but had a good experience. I eventually paired my wife's phone, something I should have done initially, and all went well, leading me to the conclusion that there is something wrong with my iphone 5s. I'll replace it soon.
