Hello Tacomaworld! I'm trying to add a subwoofer to my double cab 2015 Tacoma. I know absolutely nothing about audio and just a bit about wiring, but I'm trying to figure it out as I go. So far I know that to keep the stock head unit, I need to buy something to change the frequencys allowing me to get full potential out of my sub. I was thinking the audio control lc6i with a wiring harness from taco tunes so I can just plug and play. From there I should just be able connect to the amp and then the sub? Any recommendations on a good affordable amp and sub? I'm trying to keep this under 500$

I had a local shop do my install. Kept the stock head unit. Though I think they cheated and simply tapped into the rear speaker lines.

I used to have a pic on here showing my sub box behind the rear seats... not sure where it went. (EDIT: Photo on my build page)

Some day I need to spend money to get it done right, get a line cleaner installed, etc.

I imagine that would be a lot cheaper, was there a lot of distortion? Do you remember how much it costed?

My hearing isn't perfect. And I'm not a big audiophile either. To me it sounds just fine. Though the sub can drown out the mids with certain songs. My kids love the "vibration" on the back seat when we listen to good tunes though. LOL

I don't recall the total cost. I did an Alpine amp, two Kicker 10" Comp-D subs, and the custom box (got through Amazon). Plus labor for install (I recall they did it really cheap for me though). Admittedly the amp is under powered compared to the capability of the subs. But I didn't need anything crazy hard pounding.

Thanks! I really appreciate the help. I'll probably cruise to a local shop just to see what they have to say
