    ATTENDANCE POLL

post up when you know your plan

    a public service announcement:

for those new to the game and thinking about trails....

feel free to plan ahead and build groups to go with on trails you really want to hit...nothing wrong with that..most of my trails are planned out prior to...

but leave some flexibility in your schedule...

we're looking at 80-100 trucks possibly, so that's 8-10+ trail runs going out each day to choose from...

the popular trails, we have to stagger our start times..but if one trail run gets full, keep an ear out for others who also were looking to run it and get something planned for the next day...or pull together a second group and head out 1-2 hours after...

key is, be flexible..create a list of trails you want to run..keep an ear out for others looking to do similar runs..talk around with trucks of similar build and create trail runs of similar capabilities..have fun..feel free to hop in a group with a more experienced trail leader who can help you develop some skills (if they feel comfortable with that)..and did i mention, have fun? I want to run Kane Creek again for sure, Hells again and I want to run kokopelli into Moab. That leaves a couple days open. I want to check out some cool Moab sites/roads too.

Question: If I'm on 35s/ no Regear before Moab, will I need to bring a bunch of CVs and probably learn fast how to swap out a broken one? Or will I be fine with 1 spare just in case it happens? Trying to figure out how to take it easy on the truck while it's on stock gears/big tires crawling around

If you're romping on it, you're better off with those stock gears (less torque getting transferred).

    ...too much shit to list.

Ehhh it's a catch 22. Less gear means more skinny. And when the tire comes off the ground or unloads and loads again with a bunch of skinny...boom.
And Mr. RockyMtnTRD isn't known for his throttle control. :D

True! I was just thinking of the nice 4L torque feel with gears.

    bunch of crap

the 35s and no gears is gonna make it slower, less torque is applied to the wheels. so actually its better for not breaking parts like axles so don't worry about that like what he said^^^^^

however, because theres less torque, don't expect it to crawl up anything extremely steep...

I may be interested... but it'll be early in the week I think... (course that puts me closer to the holiday and holiday traffic) otherwise, I'll camp just outside the "park" and get up early and run it all day... catch sunrise and sunset hopefully on the trail...

when are you getting to Moab?

    TOTW sounds good too.

So Tuesday evening is going to be TOTW?

    My list is looking like

    Kane
    TOTW
Hells with everyone. Want to try escalator and Hells Gate this time around.
And maybe Rusty Nail depending on how ballsy I feel.

we'll be hitting it on the way in with a full group.

won't be the last group going.

if people go during day Tuesday, we might cross paths near Dewey bridge unless they continue out to rose garden hill.

Nice. I'm not worried about it. Just odd I've been through it a number of times and just passed right by it each time.
    Mmm yes quite.
